So you know how people say that drowning is the most painful way to die?
Well actually drowning is only painful if you fight it.
Once you accept it and just take a breath,
allowing the water to fill your lungs,
The pain goes away and its peaceful despite the fact that you are dying.
I think depression is much like drowning in that way.
We try to fight, and we struggle, and its so painful.
And we do everything in our power to stop ourselves from drowning.
The panic sets in as we cant breath,
Trying our best to claw our way to the surface,
Longing for a breath of air as our lungs start to burn.
But after a while you have to accept the despair, and the pain, and the suffering,
And you take a breath and all of the sudden its kind of peaceful...
And all of the chaos and hurt goes away,
And for a moment all is calm...
So yes, depression is like drowning in a way.
It can be peaceful even though it's killing you.
