I Thought You Should Know

Sometimes the greatest love is simply
To let go
Even if you can't and all you want to do is scream
"NO!"

I thought you should know that I dream of you
And in my dreams I always find my way back to you
I can go everywhere and anywhere and you are always there and together we hide from the monster in my head
That monster in my head that said I would lose you in the end
And in the end the monster was right
He said I loved you until you become immortal in every word, every story, every book and every sunrise
But, what he did not know and I thought you should know
Were the explosions
The explosions that rippled my skin like water until I was unable to breathe
That when you smiled the monster hides
For your beauty so pure, so bright, banishes darkness
I thought you should know of all these things that you have done to me and how I must go back
Into the diamond ribs that capture my heart in their sacred prison of pain
I thought you should know of how you changed me, made me shed my skin so many times
That graveyards must be full of all the people
I used to be and how

I thought you should know of the pain I felt but, it was the best I could do
After I made you immortal in every story and every sunrise that I saw
I thought you should know
How hard it was to let you go and
That was the greatest love I could have given
