You were shook from your peaceful sleep too early. "Come on! Wake up! I need you to help me teach the Sully family!" It was Tsireya. She was shaking you by your shoulder and almost shouting at you to get up. " Ugh fine. I'm up, I'm up." You stretched out your stiff muscles and sat up from your mat. " Tsireya the sun isn't even out yet? Why so early?" You moaned flopping back down and closing your eyes. " Come on!" This time she lightly kicked you in your side. You groaned loudly and dragged yourself to your feet.
Tsireya practically dragged you out of your pod and soon the sun began to bring light to the island. The Sully kids were waiting on the docks with Rotxo and Aonung. You immediately wanted to turn back when you saw Aonung. You didn't know he'd be here and his sudden distant behaviour made you want to avoid him too. You thought maybe it was your fault he started acting differently and you didn't want to face him yet. He looked surprised to see you too. He averted his eyes from you. Maybe you could get through the day without having to interact with him. Neteyam's reaction to you was completely different to Aonungs. His face lit up when he saw you approaching behind Tsireya. He flashed you a smile. You felt your face heat up. You couldn't deny he was very charming and you liked how his hair dramatically swung back and forth when he walked.
The morning wasn't as bad as you thought it would be. You mostly helped the youngest of the Sullys. Tuk was so adorable she kept you distracted from Aonung all morning. You helped her feed an Ilu. Her laugh was contagious and so cute. You weren't very fond of children but Tuk was an exception. ~maybe one day I'd have a daughter just like her~ . You were pulled from your thoughts when Tsireya announced that you would all start breathing lessons. Everyone sat in a circle Tsireya began teaching Lo'ak. She held one hand on his chest over his heart and the other on his stomach and instructed him to breath. " Your heart beat is getting faster you need to slow it down." She was oblivious to the effect she had on him but you and the others weren't. Neteyam was sitting beside you and chuckled at his brother's embarrassment. " What are you laughing at? It's your turn." You quipped. He looked surprised at you. Clearly not expecting you to say anything. " Ahem... yeah, ok." He nervously cleared his throat and changed his position to face you. You did the same as Tsireya, placing one hand on Neteyams chest and the other on his stomach. You could feel his heart pick up speed. " You seem to be having the same problem as Lo'ak." You smiled up at him. His cheeks began to glow pink making you giggle but you stopped when you noticed Aonung looking in your direction. Only he wasn't looking at you. He was staring daggers into the back of Neteyam's head. You pulled your hands back from Neteyam and cleared your throat to grab his attention. " You should really work on that." You didn't want to be rude but you did want to put an end to your interaction with Neteyam. You feared Anoung would make his head explode if he glared any harder at Neteyam.
You had to admit you had fun but every so often you would catch Aonung looking at you. A part of you wanted to confront him but another part wanted to be petty and give him the silent treatment right back. Even if you wanted to confront him you weren't given much of a chance.
After spending the morning teaching the Sully kids how to ride ilus and dive in the water your parents called for you. You wanted to spend longer with your new friends but clearly your parents called you for something important. You politely excused yourself from the group saying your goodbyes and waving to everyone. You decided to avoid Aonung. He was being stupid and childish and you refused to give him the attention you thought he wanted.
Your parents looked nervous when you got back to your pod. " What's wrong?" Their expressions made you nervous. " Well, you know you are now 16 and at this age you must start preparing-" your father started before your mother interrupted him. " You are to leave the island and stay with another clan until you are of mating age to which you will return and be mated!" She was clearly excited but nervous for your reaction. You were at a loss for words. You couldn't even string a thought together never mind a whole sentence. You stared between your parents eyes glancing back and forth to catch the slightest hint of this being a joke. " I'M WHAT?!"
