You swam through the glowing life of the ocean. It was so beautiful nothing compared. You glanced over your shoulder and caught a glimpse of Aonung driving after you. Excitement electrified your body. ~ This is going to be fun~
Aonung swam after you, a playful smile on his face and you returned it. You challenged him to catch you. You were a fast swimmer but Aonung was faster. However, you were smaller and more agile so you used it to your advantage. You dodged through coral structures and rocks just barely keeping out of Aonung's grasp. He couldn't manoeuvre himself through the tight spaces like you could but every so often his hands would graze your skin in his attempt to catch you.
For a moment you thought you'd lost him in a cluster of seaweed as large as trees, but as soon as you turned yourself to see if he was still chasing you. Suddenly, he swam up from beneath you taking you by surprise. He grabbed you by your hips and propelled you both towards the surface.
You both broke through the waters surface finally being able to catch a breath. You both laughed and it felt truly wonderful to laugh with Anoung again. To not be in a stupid fight or ignoring each other out of spite over something so pointless. Just you and him enjoying each others company. " There's something I have to tell you." He looked at you with a serious expression. Before you could say a word he stopped you. " Let me speak, please. I will not make the same mistakes that I did when we were younger." Your heart pounded in your chest waiting for his next words. " Before you left I was going to tell you something important and I should have but I was scared." Aonung was choosing his words carefully you could tell this weighed heavily on him. " I overheard our parents speaking and that is how I found out you were leaving. The day we spent together when you taught me the Ilu dance, I was going to tell you then but I was terrified and at the time I didn't know why. I understand now." You wanted to say something but you allowed him to continue. " I also overheard them speaking about something of more importance." ~ he must've overheard them speaking about my arranged mating. He knows who I will be mates with.~ " Ao- " he raised his hand and you respected his wish and stayed silent until he was finished. " Our parents have arranged that we are to be mated." With those words all the pieces fell into place. You felt relief that you would not be mated with someone that you didn't love but before you could think further Aonung continued. " I don't want us to be mated because our parents arranged it." Your heart instantly sank. ~ he doesn't want me?~ those words filled your head. You looked away from him so he wouldn't see the tears begin to pool in your eyes, but he caught your chin and tilted your head to face him again. " I want us to be mated because we choose to be but, I need to know if you choose me?" The tears you had been holding back spilled down your cheeks. You had no words. Nothing could describe this feeling in your heart. It was happiness, it was joy, it was love, it was everything good all at once. Aonung looked worried for a moment like he had hurt you again and for a split second he was that scared boy again. Until you smiled at him and grabbed his face crashing your lips to his. He wrapped his arms around your body and kissed you back with as much enthusiasm. Your heart felt like it would burst from your chest with pure joy. You broke the kiss and with a breathless whisper you gave him your answer. " I choose you Aonung."
