«And those bright blue eyes can only meet mine across a room filled with people that are less important than you.»

The sound of her friends' voices combined with the noise coming from everywhere in the circuit just made everything more chaotic than it already was. Cassandra tried to keep up with the babbling coming from the other side of the line as she made her way through the crowd, trying to get to Sebastian. Gareth and Abigail seemed to be having a kitchen war from what she could hear, and she could picture them making a mess in her flat. Or Gareth making a mess and Abigail scolding him for it.

"So are you guys dating or what?" Gareth's voice came closer to the phone, whilst Abigail still sounded a bit far away.

Cassandra was taken aback by the question. "What?"

Her friend scoffed, then complained with a loud ow which meant Abigail had probably hit him or something. He continued anyway. "I mean, you're in Belgium right now. Like a supportive girlfriend." His tone was teasing. "Cassandra, I'm sorry but it's too funny."

"I'll castrate you, Gareth." She said through gritted teeth. "We're not—it's not like that. He invited me and I said yes, that's it."

At first, it had been a suggestion: you should come to the race in Belgium, Sebastian said while they were laying in bed in his flat. She didn't make a lot of it, considering Cassandra didn't want to make Britta work extra for a pass again. Then he had asked more seriously if she wanted to go to Belgium for the race, Cassandra told him she didn't want to bother again with all that, but Sebastian just waved his hand and said there were special passes for people like her. When he said that she didn't understand until Britta contacted her and technically told her those were passes for partners. It had taken Cassandra ten minutes to stop thinking about it too much.

And now she was there. Again. Keeping a low profile, or whatever.

"He's a literal World Champion, Cassandra. Nothing to be ashamed of." Gareth kept his taunting.

"I'm not ashamed. We're simply not dating. That's how rumours start, you twat." From the distance, she could make out two tall figures that looked fairly familiar walking in the opposite direction she was going.

Gareth hummed. "Well, you're exchanging saliva any time you guys can so it leads me to believe. And who knows what other things you're exchanging." He said with a suggestive tone, and she could picture his smirk.

Cassandra grimaced. "You're gross." The two tall figures came closer and she could recognise Mark anywhere, and Jenson, the driver she'd met back in Silverstone. The Australian spotted her first and raised his eyebrows. Then Jenson, who just smiled. Cassandra sighed. "Look, I'll call you later. I have to go."

Abigail loudly yelled goodbye my love whilst Gareth complained about her ignoring the important topic. Cassandra didn't give her friend more time to keep rambling as she cut the call and slipped her phone back into her pocket when both drivers got closer to her. Obviously, with Mark, everything had been strictly professional, unlike whatever she had going on with Sebastian, so she couldn't blame him for looking surprised at seeing her parading around there.

"Cassandra? What a surprise." Mark crossed his arms over his chest. She just smiled. "How are you?"

"I'm alright. Hey Jenson." She mentioned with a nod in the Brit's direction.

This one smiled. "Still writing your article?" Jenson quirked an eyebrow. Cassandra felt her cheeks getting warmer.

She shook her head. "No, I'm done with that." She cleared her throat, looking at both of them. "Uh, I'm here because Sebastian invited me." The drivers exchanged a quick glance like they already knew it had something to do with the German. Jenson grinned at her. "Do you know where I can find him?" She asked Mark.
