twenty-five

The Hath had followed Martha and Belle to the surface. Belle was shivering while Martha spoke to the Hath.

"I knew you couldn't resist it," Martha says. Belle smiles at the Hath, but couldn't help but feel the same pain in her chest again.

"Language," Martha says as the Hath bubbles. Martha noticed Belle's pain. She holds onto the girl as they start to walk.

Martha and Belle had left behind the Hath. Belle was thankful she was able to make it, but felt really bad about the Hath.

The two girls made their way through the building, trying to find the Doctor, Donna and Jenny. They finally found each other. Belle blushes as the Doctor sees her, but heads over to Martha first.

"Mum!" Jenny runs to Belle, hugging her. She struggles to stand still as Jenny crushes her in the hug.

"Oh Jenny, I've missed you! Even though it's been a few—"

"I know mum," Jenny says. "It's so good to finally see you."

"You as well," Belle kisses Jenny's temple. Jenny smiles brightly. The Doctor moves on to Belle, trying to pull Jenny away.

"Doctor," Belle says, her eyes twinkling as she sees him. He smiles back.

"Belle," he says. "How's your — your—"

"It's fine. Haven't had an episode yet, but fine," Belle says.

"Well don't just stand there," Belle hears Donna say. "Hug each other for god's sake!"

Belle glares at Donna. The Doctor goes in first, wrapping his arms around her. Belle kissed the Doctor's cheek and pulled away. He blushed.

"Positions," they hear the General say. The Doctor grabs Belle's hand.

"That's the General. We haven't got much time," the Doctor says.

"We don't even know what we're looking for," Donna says. Martha sniffs the air.

"Is it me, or can you smell flowers?" Martha asks everyone.

"Yes. Bougainvillea. I say we follow our nose," the Doctor tells her.

"Bougainvillea," Belle mouths, repeating what he said. The Doctor glares as they start running.

"Oh, yes. Yes. Isn't this brilliant?" The Doctor says as they go outside. Belle squeezed his hand.

They walk up to a glowing globe on a pedestal with wires running to it. There is a control panel and screen nearby.

"Is that the Source?" Donna asks.

"It's beautiful," Jenny comments, looking around. Belle smiles at her daughter.

"What is it?" Martha asks.

"Terraforming. It's a third generation terraforming device."

"So why are we suddenly in Kew Gardens?" Donna asks.

"Because that's what it does. All this, only bigger. Much bigger. It's in a transit state. Producing all this must help keep it stable before they finally..." the Doctor is stopped.

The Hath and the soldiers run in from opposite sides.

"Stop! Hold your fire!" The Doctor yells, putting his arms out. Belle frowns. The Doctor tries to protect her.

"What is this, some kind of trap?" General Cobb asks.

"You said you wanted this war over," the Doctor tells him.
