Frightful

Maybe you like poems,
Maybe you don't,
But you don't have to, ok?
Just admit that it's broke.

You may ask,
"Toby... what's 'broke'"?
Why, let me tell you,
in the form of a joke:

I am broke.
In more way than one,
I'm being chewed up,
As if I were gum,

My heart feels solid,
Yet it's been melting,
I'm cold to the touch,
During the process of smelting,

I'm really trying to say:

I don't know that my feelings work any longer,
But it's a someone I like, that sets me to wander.

I wander if someday you'd like me back,
It's weird to say, to put upon pressure like that,
Even though we've barely hugged,
I believe I feel a mild dose of love,

I feel selfish in my thoughts, because you're unimaginably amazing,
And I can't come to determine, quite how to explain it,

Just wanted you to know you're in my every thought,
And if you ever had a battle, I'd always be prepared to have fought,

I'm willing to defend your corner,
Even if I doubt the reason,
Because pretending I didn't like you,
Would be a cowardly form of treason.

Always here for you x
