Darkness, is all she's ever known. All the abuse changed her. She couldn't endure the pain anymore.
She'd come to the conclusion that she was doomed for all of eternity. So, she closed up. Guarded herself. She learned that when she felt nothing, when she pushed away all her emotions and became an empty shell, that she no longer felt the pain. It was how she coped with the constant abuse.
She welcomed the darkness and let it swallow her whole. The little voice in her head telling her, it'll be okay.. but she knew that was all a lie. That was what you called hope.. And Saige Hayes had lost her hope a long time ago.
She believed that this was her reality and there was no escaping it. She was gone and she didn't think she would come back. She didn't even know if she wanted to come back..
