The prom was just around the corner. Everyone is getting partners and going shopping. People would not stop talking about it. The halls were always crowded due to promposals happening in the middle of them. Some arguments happened in class or in the halls. Friend groups gathered more to plan more. Many people hoping to be asked out.

This class period was no different. People talking about prom rather than work. Y/n sat beside Silver, them two working together. "So, got a date yet?" Y/n asked as they got the answer to a question. "Yeah actually." Silver smiled, Y/n's heart dropped. "Oh? Who is it?" They asked him. "I decided to ask Blaze." He got the answer to the next question. "That's sweet, I should have known it would be her." Y/n teased a bit.

Silver gave a soft chuckle and soon the two finished the work. Not long after, the class ended and the two packed up and left. Their conversation branched off to other things. Y/n avoided the topic of prom since. They blamed themselves for not asking him first.

A prom outfit was picked out for Y/n. They really liked the outfit, plus they couldn't wait to meet up with their friends. They all planned on having an after party with just the friend group.

Prom was loud and crowded. Some people immediately took up tables while others stood on the dance floor. Y/n was the first one out of the group so they got a table for them all. Since it was still early, nothing really happened. They immediately went for the food once they claimed a table. Soon they noticed Silver come in with Blaze. Y/n looked away, it hurt to see them together. They tried to convince themselves it was fine, as long as Silver was happy.

"Y/n!" Silver called out, Y/n turns to the two as they took a bite from the cookie. They gave a small smile and wave. Y/n walked over to them and motioned for them to follow and they showed the two where their table was. All three sat down and began to talk as they waited for everyone.

Once everyone was there, they all began to have fun. Other than Y/n, they tried, but seeing Silver with Blaze just hurt. Y/n watched as the two danced, talked, and laughed. As Y/n stood off to the side, Sonic noticed them alone. He walked over to them and stood beside them. "Hey, what's wrong?" He questioned, Y/n snapped out of their thoughts and looked at him. "Hm? Nothing."

Sonic didn't believe Y/n, Sonic has known Y/n for years. He was basically an older brother to Y/n. "Like I believe that." He crossed his arms and Y/n hummed. "Too bad." They responded. "Come on, you can tell me." Sonic persisted. Y/n stayed quiet and Sonic sighed. "Fine but you'll tell me at some point." Y/n playfully waved him off. "Sure."

A chuckle came from Sonic. "I know you will." Y/n shook their head as Sonic walked off. A slow song came on, causing more people to go to the dance floor. Silver and Blaze being ones to stay on the floor. Y/n gave a sigh as they walked to the bathroom and hid in a stall. A few tears pricked their eyes but they closed them to keep the tears from coming out. After a while, they calmed down and they left the bathroom.

The chair was pulled out from the table so Y/n could sit down. They were the only one at the table, soon that was untrue. Silver walked over, smiling. "Hey Y/n, you okay? You disappeared for a while there." He sat down beside them. "Hm? Oh yeah, I'm fine. Really." Silver crossed his arms. "You know I can tell when something is wrong." He responded and Y/n waved him off. "Really Silv, I'm fine."

"Sil."

Y/n raised their brow and looked at him. "What?"

"Sil. That's what you call me when you're in a good mood. Silv is what you call me when something is wrong. Silver is what you call me when you're trying to lie to get out of something with someone else, among a few other things but that's the most common."

No words came from Y/n, they didn't even realize that they did that. "What is wrong?" Silver moved a bit closer to them. Y/n stared for a second before looking away. "I'd rather not talk about it." They responded and Silver gave a soft sigh. "Alright, I won't push."

The chair creaked as Silver stood up. He decided to go and enjoy the rest of the party. Y/n didn't stay long after that, they decided to leave early. They went home and immediately went into more comfortable clothes. Y/n ignored texts and calls for the rest of the night.

After prom, seniors didn't have to go back to school. Y/n immediately jumped on that and didn't go back.

As Y/n chilled in their living room, they got a call. They didn't even look at it, they tried to decline it but accidentally accepted it. "Y/n?" They heard a voice say. Y/n looked around then at their phone and saw Silver has called. "Oh- Silv, hey, uh how are you?" Y/n questioned, Silver gave a small sigh as the name. "I'm good, why aren't you at school?" He questioned.

"Cause seniors don't have to come back." They responded. "Yeah but, we wanted to all hang out one last school day." He said a bit hopefully. "Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't know." Y/n looked down as they messed with their clothing. "Maybe if you answer our calls and texts, you would've." Silver spoke in a slight annoyed tone. Y/n was quiet for a second. "I'm sorry, I'm just too mentally exhausted to go back. Maybe we can schedule a time outside of school?"

A sigh came from Silver. "Yeah, sure. Hey mind if I come over tonight?" He asked, Y/n debated for a second. They didn't really want him over but at the same time they did want to see him. "Um, sure. I have nothing planned for dinner though." Y/n said and a soft chuckle came from Silver. "I'm sure we can figure something out." Y/n chuckled a bit. "Alright, I'll see you then." They said bye to him then hung up.

Once the time came, there was a knock at the door. Y/n got up and opened the door. Silver smiled at the sight of Y/n. They allowed him in and they both sat on the couch. "So, Y/n." He began, Y/n looked at him. "When are you going to tell me what's wrong?" He looked at them. Y/n sighed and looked at the tv. "There's nothing-" He crossed his arms. "Don't give me that. What is wrong? You've been down since right before prom. Did something happen with prom?" He questioned.

Finally, Y/n decided to say it. "Yes, yes something happened. My crush went with someone else. It's not like I'm mad at him or anything. I'm just upset I missed that one time opportunity. Just because I'm too scared to tell him how I feel." Y/n ranted, Silver's gaze softened at this. "Who is it? Maybe I can help." He dropped his arms. "The only way you could help is if you feel the same." Y/n looked away.

A hand was placed over Y/n's. They looked at Silver. "Is it me?" He questioned softly. Y/n didn't answer, they looked down with their eyes. "I hope you know that me and Blaze went as friends. It just came up in conversation and we decided to go together." Silver cleared up. Y/n looked back at him. "I do feel the same. I was also scared to tell you. I didn't want to ruin what we have."

The two were quiet for a second. "So, you do feel the same?" Y/n wanted reassurance, Silver gave a small smile and nodded. "Yes, I do." Y/n smiled and hugged him. "I'm so glad!" Silver smiled and hugged back. "Me too."

Gah, this ending is so bad. Idk if it truly fits cause I didn't reread anything. I've been working on rewriting my Nanbaka book. Chapters will definitely be slower here. Probably until Sonic Prime S2 comes out and I hyperfixate on Sonic again.

I hope y'all enjoyed this anyway! Byyyyyyyeeeeeeee!
