Sonic - Theater Kids

Idea: Ok, so basically Sonic x reader where reader is a theater kid and trying out for the musical and Sonic ends up trying out with them and they get the leads. Romance happens at the end. - A/n: It's spooky month, I hope you don't mind me picking 'Nightmare before Christmas'

The theater class was putting on two plays this year for the school. During the first one, Y/n didn't want a main role and they had fun with the role they ended up with. They didn't have too many lines to memorize but they also had a good amount of time on stage. They really enjoyed that.

So, they wanted to do that again. When it came time to do auditions, Y/n was much better at it than the first time around. Their teacher saw their potential and put them as one of the main roles, Sally. The teacher thought Sonic would fit well as Jack. This was because Y/n and Sonic got along great so there wasn't gonna be drama between the two.

Y/n tended to be rather quiet during class and didn't fully get along with anyone else. So, their teacher put Y/n and Sonic together as Jack and Sally. When the teacher posted the roles, Sonic was excited to have the main lead. He bragged about it to his friends. Y/n on the other hand was nervous.

Of course, they wouldn't turn down such a role. They were afraid of the spotlight in such scenes when Jack and Sally are close together. Not to mention the kiss at the end. Y/n really liked Sonic and this would allow them to spend even more time together. But their crush on him made them even more nervous for the role.

Today was the first day of practice. School just let out so the actors were heading to the auditorium to start. Course Sonic was the first one there with his speed, even though he wasn't supposed to use it during school. But it was after school now, who cares?

Y/n was second to show up since their last class wasn't far from the auditorium. They spotted Sonic sitting on the edge of the stage. Y/n smiled a bit and walked over to him. They sat down beside him. "Got your script?" They asked and he looked at them with a smile. "Yep!" Sonic then held up the script.

They soon began just talking as the others came in. It didn't take too long for everyone to come in. All the actors were on the stage as the teacher spoke to everyone. He gave directions on what the first rehearsal would be like. There were a few new people, some who haven't been in a stage play.

So basic rules were gone over along with how this play will start off.

They had two weeks of normal rehearsal before tech week came. During each rehearsal, Y/n did really well in their role. From how long the play was, it was broken down into parts. They did three parts, first part one day, second part the next, then the last part after that. Once the forth day came, they did the full play.

This cycle went on, things were going well. Sometimes someone would forget their line or some accidental improv went on. There was one thing, the kiss. Y/n didn't want to do the kiss, not yet at least. They were too nervous for it. They knew they needed to do it. Sonic could see how nervous Y/n got and grew concerned.

Now, it wasn't unheard of for a kiss scene to be changed to something the actors were more used to in highschool plays. So, both Sonic and the teacher both offered to change the scene but Y/n declined. They wanted it as accurate to the movie and they knew they could do it.

Everyone just agreed to only do the kiss during the actual play. Thing was, they would do the play during school for all the students. Then they'll do it again for students, staff, and parents. Others guests could come if they were family or friends to the actors. So, Sonic and Y/n would have to do the kiss twice.

The night of the play came and Y/n was extremely nervous. They held it together though, they were an actor. A good one at that. They would just act like they were fine and do the play. Sonic could see through them though, he decided to let Y/n have their way of coping through this.

Speaking of him, he was pretty nervous himself. Though his confident attitude helped him get through his nervousness. He couldn't wait to kiss Y/n. He had been looking forward to it since the moment he saw he was casted as Jack Skeleton.

Though, he never wanted to make Y/n comfortable so he would've respected if Y/n decided not to do the kiss. He was more than happy when Y/n decided to go through with the kiss.

Before the two knew it, the scene came up. Y/n, as Sally, snuck off and went to the curled mountain. A moon prop hanging beside Y/n as they say down in the fake snow. They held their prop flower and picked off some petals as the music played in the background.

Sonic, as Jack, saw Y/n leave and he followed them. He looked up at them with a smile. "My Dearest friend," He began his line as Y/n looked over at Sonic. "If you don't mind, I'd like to join you by your side." He slowly made his way up the unique hill. "Where we can gaze up into the stars."

Now it was time for Y/n to join in the song. "And sit together, now and forever." Sonic got up to them, "For it is plain as anyone can see, we're simply meant to be." They both said at the same time as their hands interlocked.

Y/n could feel their heart race as Sonic grew closer. Sonic grew more excited after each passing second. The two leaned in and wrapped their arms around each other before sharing a gentle kiss. They pulled away just as the red curtain came down.

The crowd began to clap as everyone in the wings began to go on the front part of the stage. Sonic and Y/n got off the hill and joined the rest of the cast. The two of them in the middle as the whole cast stood in a line and held hands. They all took a bow, Sonic and Y/n shared a look before they both smiled.

The cast stood up and people let go of each other's hands to wave or bow again. The cast stayed out on stage and answered questions afterwards. Many questions were asked, about how the play worked, how the actors remembered likes, how the stage was built, a few even about the kiss Sonic and Y/n shared.

After the play, Y/n was outside, waiting for the ride home. They had to do the show again but that wasn't until after school which was in a few hours. Sonic spotted Y/n and waved them down as he ran over. Sonic smiled at Y/n, "Hey! You did amazing out there." He complimented. Y/n smiled back and nodded. "As did you!"

Sonic gave a slight nervous smile as he looked off. He placed a hand on the back of his neck, Y/n tilted their head a bit at his nervousness. "Hey, I was wondering if you'd like to go out sometime?" He asked and it immediately clicked to Y/n. Happily, Y/n nodded.

"Of course!"

WOOOOOO!! Three in one day? I wonder if they're any good. I really wanted to get this out on October 1st since it's the start of spooky month. I didn't think about doing 'Nightmare before Christmas' until I started this so I kinda rushed this.
