It's in the style of some late '80s or early '90s animes and the G.I. Joe cartoon.

There are recreations of the scenes earlier in the movie to tag the cast to the characters, but it also shows Carol's further adventures, filling in the gap of what she's been up to from 1993 to 2018. At first, she stays by the Skrulls. But once they can manage themselves, she sets off in other heroic duties throughout the galaxy.
