Have you ever found yourself so engrossed in an activity you forget to check the time, or even if you're no longer in the same place as you started?

Well this is what happened to the chaotixs who had started fighting a herd of badnicks

starting in the middle of the town, only to find themselves driving the fight closer into the grass and mountainlands

the three had this battle practically handed to them as they started finishing the last of the robots

Vector smashing one head in the palm of his hands

Charmy in the air swatting away the airborne baddies

and Espio kicking the robot with enough force to send it crashing into the trees and powering it down instantly

Espio had finished his pile as he landed back on the ground with a finishing blow

unknown to him how close he had been to the edge

a crumble was heard under his feet

"huh?" Espio questioned as he felt his gravity shift

and suddenly he felt his body fall

Espio!" Charmy and Vector exclaimed as the chameleon went plummeting down

At once the chameleon's survival instincts clicked, he was too far to jump and reach the edge of the cliff, so he tried using his kunai rope dart to lasso himself to safety

it had been able to get stuck in the rock

only for that rope to come crumbling down with them too

Espio's eyes widened in shock, only for them to be forcefully shut as water began to block his vision

on instinct, he started swimming up

gasping as he resurfaced he realised that he had landed in a river and quickly made himself start to cough and tread the water, he didn't need to get a waterborne illness or infection after all

"esp!" the voices of his worried teammates called as they rushed their way to meet them

"you ok?" Vector asked as he waved his head back and forth, trying to see if the chameleon had any injuries caused by the rock debris debrie

but with how far the chameleon landed it was hard to tell

"I'm fine!" espio exclaimed as he began swimming to the exit

"you sure that was a really nasty fall?!" Charmy exclaimed as the chameleon was finally reaching the end

"I'm fi-ine" Espio responded, only to realise that his voice had changed

his deep smooth voice had lightened and softened

"esp?" Vector questioned with surprise at the sudden voice change

"was that." Espio began, only to realise that his voice had indeed changed

but if that wasn't a big surprise he suddenly felt like parts of his body grew heavier

placing his hand on his head he felt two new unfamiliar shapes

"you going through rapid puberty or something?" Charmy asked with surprise, seeing his brother now suddenly have three new horns compared to the one

"no, I-" Espio answered in a panic

but when he looked down he saw something VERY different

letting a startled shriek he ducked down back into the water and covered himself with his hands and legs
