the chaotixs were on a case to track down some thieves in an old abandoned stone castle

it was said to be haunted so nobody dared to go inside

that made it the best place to hold stolen goods

the three had split up to cover more ground

while vector and Charmy checked the left side of the castle while Espio searched the right

whilst the other two detectives had found the criminals, Espio had found the stolen valuables

only the chameleon hadn't realised that they weren't the only things he had found

"found the thieves, knocked them out flawlessly I am happy to report" vector announced over the coms happily, just in the background Espio could hear the joyous shouts of victory from their mascot bee

"glad to hear, I'll meet you two outside with the valuables, over and out" Espio announced happily as he switched off his coms

as he reached to take the treasures a moving figure caught his eye

the end of a scaly green tail just passed the doorway of the room the chameleon was in before going into another

"vector?" Espio asked in confusion

when he didn't get an answer he decided to follow his soundless boss to get an answer

"vector?!" Espio shouted again as he ran to catch up, but it seemed the crocodile was purposely ignoring him

turning another corner he was lead into a barren like bedroom room

Espio was filled with confusion and unease

he was about to exit the room before the large bedroom doors locked and closed on themselves

"eh?" was all he could mutter as he raced over to the doors, try all his might he couldn't get them to budge

"what's going on?!" he questioned aloud as fear and panic filled his chest

"my my, what an amusing curious little thing you are" an unfamiliar and haunting voice echoed in the room

espio's back was pressed firmly against the wall, his eyes darting everywhere to see where the voice was coming from

"it's been a while since we've had a new friend to play with" the haunting voice continued, seeming to have become more childish

"Who are you, show yourself" Espio demanded

"hehe, I wonder what fears keep you awake at night little lizard" the voice laughed, ignoring the chameleon's orders

Espio prepared for a fight

but nothing could prepare him for what was about to happen next

the big doors unlocked and opened, giving Espio the way of escape

"This could be a trap," he said to himself as he refused to move from his spot, weapons out and ready for an attack

"Espio!"

the cry from the youngest detective rang echoed in his mind

Espio looked to the exit in worry

"Espio! help us!" a second voice shouted

vector and Charmy were shouting out to him, they sounded like they were afraid and hurt

completely forgetting the ghostly voice he ran to where their voices were
