Nordica Spellman: Avatar Fanfic (ON HOLD)

First Connection

Nordica's POV

I woke early to link with my avatar. As I know they wanted to do some tests to make sure the baby and I are fine in both bodies. I haven't told Norm yet about the baby. And I'm still avoiding Jake. I arrive at the lab after a quick breakfast. "Early riser, good village life starts early" Grace tells me.

"I doubt I'll be chosen, besides I'm a botanist and Norm has studied longer" I tell her.

"You never know" she tells me. "How are you feeling this morning?" she asks me.

"No morning sickness, but I have a feeling that'll change once I link to my avatar" I state.

"I'll make sure they have bin ready" she tells me. "I have an outfit picked out for you. A loose tank  top, shorts, socks and shoes" she states. I nod my head in thanks. "Remember how to link?" she asks as we head over to a link pod.

"Logged over three hundred hours, what do you think?" I ask her as I open the pod.

"I think you and I are going to get along just fine" she tells me with a chuckle. I get in and lay down. She brings the sensors down. "Just let your mind go blank, I'll meet you once the other two have linked up" she states. I nod my head and she closes the lid. I close my eyes taking a calming breath and let my min go blank.

I soon wake in my avatar body. "Hi Nordica, how are you feeling?" Dr Joy asks me. I cover my mouth as a wave of nausea hits me. I'm handed a bin and vomit into it. I stop and relax. "Feeling better?" she asks me.

"Once I can rinse my mouth, I will" I tell her. She nods her head in understanding.

"Lets just do the routine tests and you can go" she tells me. I test my motor functions, she checks the baby. I am then allowed to stand. I am escorted to where our avatars are house. I'm handed clothes and given privacy. I got changed and rinsed my mouth. Then brushed my teeth.

I leave the bathroom to be greeted by Grace. "Heard you were sick" she states.

"Yep" I tell her.

"Well lets get some fruit into you, can't have you walk around on an empty stomach" she states. I nod my head. "Hey marine!" she shouts and I look up to see Jake in Tom's avatar in a hospital gown. Seriously, he couldn't of waited to test his legs?

"Grace, Nordica?" he asks.

"Well who'd you expect, numb-nuts? Think fast!" she says tossing him a fruit. He catches it as she hands me one. "Motor control is looking good" she declares as I take a bite of my fruit. It was so juicy, delicious.

"Hey, check it out!" Norm shouts and I notice he is still in a hospital gown also. I roll my eyes as he poses. "I am a living god" he states and I giggle.

"Sure you are Norm" I state.

"Wow, you look beautiful Nordica" he tells me.

"I think it's time you and Jake put on some clothes" I tell him.

"Sounds good" he states.

"In there gentlemen" Grace says nodding to the avatar shack. "Still avoiding him?" she asks me.

"It's to soon Grace" I tell her as I ran a hand through my hair.

"He lost him to you know" she reminds me.

"Yeah, well he could of had a relationship with Tom after his accident. It was Jake who stopped contacting Tom. Who tried to invite him to our wedding. It took Tom dying for Jake to be in the same room as him again" I state.

"You think I don't regret that?" Jake asks as he appears with Norm. "He was my brother and I loved him. I may of never wrote him back, but I read his letters. He spoke of you often" he states.

"He spoke of you also" I state.

"I know it's hard for you to see me and for me to be using his avatar. But I am and I want to get to know the girl who was going to be my sister in law" he states.

"Tom always wished we'd meet one day" I tell him. "i just wish he was here" I state.

"So do I" he states.

"There's something you should know, you to Norm" I state.

"What is it?" Norm asks me.

"You both are going to be uncles" I state.

"You're serious?" Norm asks me excited. I nod my head. "Yes!" he shouts and picks me up. Spinning.

"Norm, stop!" I shout and he puts me down.

"Tom" Jake says.

"Yeah, think you're up for the challenge marine?" I ask him.

"I'll be he or she's favourite uncle" he states.

"No, I will be" Norm tells him.

"Boys, you're both beautiful" Grace tells them. "Now let me give you all a tour of the avatar facilities here on base" she states. She leads the way as she and I talk about plants. I hear the boys silently argue over who will be my child's favourite uncle. I wish Tom was here, but he'd want me to live on and be happy. Raise our baby and become friends with his brother. So that's what I will do. All for him and my baby. Who deserves to know both their uncles.
