Chapter 16: GoodBye

Short Recap: Last time we saw Sage and Viper, they had just started dating. Sage was in the main cafeteria with KJ Raze and Viper when Brimstone came and called for Sage.

Sage follows Brimstone into the conference room, where Reyna and Cypher were already present. She nods towards them, takes a seat, and asks, "What's the emergency?"

"I just got some information," Cypher replied. "The kingdom bastards are on the move again. It seems like an unknown package, and the new-gen Spikes are going to be delivered to IceBox."

"And that unknown package smells like trouble," Reyna added.

Brimstone turns on the hologram, bringing everyone's attention to him. "That's why I'm planning to deploy a small team there to stop 'em, find out about the package, and deal with it as the situation asks."

"For this, I'm thinking of you, KJ Cypher, and Sova, with you in command." He said, looking towards Sage. "We don't have enough time to scout the perimeter or even confirm if this is a trap; this is going to be a risky mission."

"I'm ready, sir," Sage agreed, bracing herself for the mission ahead.

"Good, then let's discuss the plan."

" We're leaving in an hour, consider it a stealth mission; we are not going to engage unnecessarily." Sage was briefing Jett, Sova, and KJ about the mission. She continued, "Get ready, prepare your gadgets, and let's meet at the hangar, I'll explain the rest of the details on the plane."

Everyone left Sage's office, and she too went to the armory to get ready for the mission.

As she packed her gear, Sage couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. It has been quite some time since she led a mission, but she was determined to make it a success.

Sage was back in her cabin to finish some business when Viper entered it; she was in her lab coat . "Viper," Sage said, turning to greet her. "What brings you here?"

"I heard about your mission," she replied.

"Ah yes, i'm about to leave. Just finishing this report," Sage said then turned around her chair, revealing her face with a smirk, and asked, "Did you come to see me off? awww"

Viper didn't give any reaction and continued, " Le'mme join in too, i know Brim will allow it if you ask him "

"No no, it isn't necessary...you also have some work here, right?.... just do that, and we'll handle the mission, or do you doubt our capability?"

" That's not the reason, even you know that, i just want to help." Viper replied firmly. "I appreciate your intentions, but i can do this by myself," responded the other person. Viper looked at Sage's determined face and understood that she wouldn't change her mind no matter what and so she gave up.

"I know, but be careful. I'm getting kind of bad vibes from it, and you are also going in without much information." Viper said with a concerned look, it was the first time Sage saw her like that."

"It's understandable, you're just worried, this is your first time having your loved one go on the battlefield." Sage replied reassuringly, hoping to ease Viper's anxiety. "But don't worry, everything will be fine. We've got this."

Viper just hummed in response. Sage got up and said, "Alright, i'm leaving now."

" Good luck, babe," Viper said with a genuine smile.

"Nope not like this.... i need a good bye kiss" Sage said with a playful grin.

"W-wh-w-What??!" Viper was stupefied by the sudden request.

"I know what you did last night.... i was actually awake," Sage said, talking about how Viper kissed her while thinking she was asleep. Viper, hearing this, couldn't maintain her composure and hid her face by her palm, trying to hide her embarrassment.

Viper was lost in her thoughts, contemplating what the other person is thinking about her, when she felt a hand on her palm, which was covering her face, and it pulled it away. Viper opened her eyes to Sage with the cutest smile as she laughed, Looking in her eyes, she said, "You're too cute, Sabine" and leaned towards her for a kiss.

Sage's lips pressed on hers, and her arms encircled her neck, Viper felt a shock of electricity run down her spine, her eyes were closed, and she could feel the softness of Sage's lips as well as her hot breath on her cheeks. Something was rising in her chest, she couldn't describe what it was, but something was, and Sage finally let go, leaving Viper out of breath. She didn't wanted it to end, she desperately wanted to pull her in once again, but she was too stunned to do anything, her heart was racing it felt like it would burst at any moment.

Viper, still gasping for air tried to say "What the F-", but she was cut off in between by Sage whose face was all red, "Haha...bye babe and thank you" and she hurriedly left the chamber, maybe she too was embarrassed to stay in that situation anymore.

Hello there everyone, haha it's been a long time 😅 yeah sorry about suddenly not posting.... I actually first wrote about half the chapter but it was lost and then I lost all the motivation and then just college started and couldn't time find(obviously also because of lack of motivation)

But now I'm finally trying to get back again right now it's been almost a year (9-10 months) so my writing skills are again down the drain (not that they were good initially but now comparatively worse) so you might not like it now but please bear with me as I improve, the updates still might not be regular like before but I'll try my best to get back and be better. Like seriously even this chapter took me days to complete...

So yeah the kiss in the end was actually supposed to be a kiss on forehead just like during the night but I forgot about that and it somehow ended like this and after writing it when I remembered I didn't wanted to remove this part so here you go

Anyways I have so much to ramble upon but let's stop...again sorry for disappearing in the middle and thank you for all the love to the story, peace out. Hope you all have a good day/night.
