11: "Shooting Stars"
流れ星

A long heavy sigh escaped his mouth the moment he reached the exit of the establishment. Facial expression in pain. Using his left hand, Akane massaged his forehead. Everything he had heard from those apparitions only caused him a headache and a reason to be unable to sleep last night.

Catching a shooting star?

Just how in the world?. . .He has only read that in books. The one where there's a shape-shifting bird with narcissistic tendencies and a strong grandma.

That kind of thing to happen here in their world? It's impossible. But then again, he's literally in a school where ghosts live by spreading superstitions and rumors. Shooting stars are also a real thing. What makes it all ambitious is that he plans to catch them

But he doesn't exactly know how yet though because the black-haired spirit suggested that he should think about this more carefully. It's funny how the said ghost acted like he didn't just drop the bomb, expecting he will be calm as he leaves the room.

"We'll give you time. You need it. Mental preparation." Hanako said.

"It truly is complicated, Akane. What you will do must be as quick as lightning for effective changes to happen especially since you have to do it in a different dimension." Kako added.

Akane made his frame lean on the sliding transparent doors. His crimson irises watched the crying sky. The rain was nonstop since yesterday. Tomorrow, it might stop. Hopefully.

The way he thought about the rain reminded him of how he grieved for her. At one time, he had broken down, tears kept flowing and staining his cheeks. His system was flooded with devastation. But then suddenly, one day, it all just stopped. No more tears. No more sorrow and devastation.

Even the only thing that will complete him is nowhere to be found.

What they said. . .was true. Heartbreak is just one step closer to death. Having that one specific person he offered his unwavering love to, eventually making her the very reason for him to live. What will do now that he lost her?

Teardrops fell just like transparent raindrops, and he bit his bottom lip. His vision gets blurry and blurry as the second passes. He was about to succumb to his dark thoughts when a hand rested on his left shoulder. Akane raised his head and saw Teru who was looking at him sadly. But when their vision crossed, the blond-haired male smirked.

"Crybaby."

"Tss."

Akane rolled his eyes and blinked, making more of his tears fall. He sniffed loudly and used the sleeve of his right arm to wipe it all away. Then he saw the male put both his hands inside his pockets.

"I've always imagined you to be the type who will have your moment to cry right here at our school's exit." Teru blurted out, earning a glare from the crimson-haired male.

"Can you also imagine how this fist will hit your face if you don't stop?"

"Oh! You would never do that—" The president looked at him with wide eyes.

"Don't tempt me." Akane casually dusted off his uniform.

After a few moments of silence, Teru spoke again. "So what's your plan now—"

"Do you think I love her?"

Teru flinched a little due to Akane's question, despite the evident confusion in his turquoise galaxies he answered him.
