CHAPTER TWENTY SIXILY
talia's eyes snapped open— not her usual yellow, greenish ones, but rather her brown human ones. her hands fought to open the capsule she laid in as her lungs tried to find air, coughing as she did so in the meantime.
her capsule made a whoosh sound as it opened, letting her human eyes roam over the shack as she rolled out of it. but her vision was becoming blurry fast, a clear sign that she was breathing in the pandora air and making her dizzy.
she gasped as she crawled on the floor, her body unable to function properly as it sat between the blurred line of consciousness. she found the oxygen mask drawer, attempting to open it with weak fingers. she barely grasped it before it fell on the floor, now scrambling to put it on.
it felt like an eternity before the mask clipped on and breathable air circulated through to her. talia was able to inhale a deep breath and felt her lungs thank her for not letting them run out of air completely.
but now that she was breathing fine again, she sat up off the floor and tried to remember what just happened. she was just talking with jake and neytiri, who were talking about tsavo and ixana. it sounded like jake assumed they were working together, then that's when she blacked out.
talia looked around her, trying to look for clues as to how this happened. she noticed the front door of the shack was wide open with no sign of anyone.
she gained courage and the feeling back in her muscles to stand up and scout the area, curiosity getting the better of her. she quickly took notice the disarray the shack was in, as if a tornado struck through the area and damaged everything in sight. it was a wonder how she wasn't crushed inside her capsule, which she also noticed was tucked away into a back room. this was strange because the capsules were usually all held together, not hidden.
after swiping away random debris from her path, talia made her way outside. that's when she could hear the faint sound of voices, but she was unable to determine who they were.
creeping around the corner of the shack with light feet, talia peeked around. she noticed in the far distance that there were two na'vi standing before several humans— the scientists, most likely. some were lying on the ground motionless, making the girls eyes widen in realization that they may be dead already.
her eyes traveled once again, finding norm to be one of the people still kneeling before the na'vi. she couldn't hear the words distinctly, but caught a view of the bloodied knives they held in their hands.
talia had no idea what to do. she wasn't in avatar form so she had no physical chance of taking on the na'vi— who she gathered to be tsavo and ixana. she knew she couldn't stay either, but she didn't want to leave anyone behind. especially norm.
