CHAPTER THIRTY EIGHT

HOME

it was the following morning after talia, lo'ak and neteyam's events at the beach. the three wore their new hairpieces as they packed their belongings once again to return back to the forest.

though the boys had to do most of the heavy work, the pain hadn't totally subsided in talia's legs so she did as much as her mates allowed.

the plan was to join tonowari, ronal and their family for a last breakfast as their family had some departing gifts to share. after that, they would be leaving.

neytiri had spotted this new piece of jewelry that the trio wore, then asking talia for help so she could quiz her about it.

"you are mated with my sons?" the mother asked with a hopeful glint in her eyes. the immediate blush that overtook the younger girls features was enough of an answer, but talia replied, "yes, we are. we planned on telling you back at the forest.."

neytiri beamed with pride, hugging talia quickly before any suspicions arose. "i am so glad! did this happen last night?"

she hesitated, "well, it actually happened the day before we came to awa'atlu."

"i see. though i wish to have known sooner, we will celebrate! when we return home i will make sure of it." neytiri gave talia one last motherly smile before sauntering away to inform her husband about the news.

talia felt that piece of a loving family slowly connect together, the one she'd been missing growing up without parents. all her life she'd been chasing a dream—who knew it would become reality and it was right next door to her the whole time.

"what did my mom say?" kiri found talia after seeing her talking with neytiri.

"she's happy about me being with neteyam and lo'ak. says she'll plan a celebration." talia answered, walking with the girl back to the marui.

kiri made an 'ah' sound, "good for you, mom throws the best parties."

"hey, have you decided what you're gonna do?" talia turned the questions back to kiri.

the younger girl groaned, "no. i suppose i'll wait until the last minute."

"kiri-"

"listen, i know- i'll work on it. but what am i supposed to say to spider when-"

"what are you supposed to say to me?" spider interrupted as he bounced on the walkway next to them.
