Ryder

The pain is so great that a growl escaped me. Someone just broke Skylar's shoulders. I feel like I can see her crying.

"King Ryder, what happened," Riley asks.

"Skylar's being tortured," I answer. Ashton's eyes raise, while everyone else visibly winces. "Someone just broke her shoulders," I add. Maybe if they knew just how bad this was, they can help me to quickly figure out who took Skylar and where she was.

Everyone is silent. Riley has a grimace on her face. Ethanial is rotating his shoulders. Alec is staring at the ground with a blank face. Ashton keeps twitching his lips. Jolin is sneering. Everyone is doing something but what I want them to do. Talk about Skylar.

"Okay," I say to break the silence. "I don't get what Nate would have to do with Skylar."

"You don't have to," Jolin says. "Use logic. Nate disappears suddenly and for no reason to become a Rogue. We figured out that the R stands for Rogue. Then, the very next day, your Skylar is kidnapped. Turns out, Nate looks like a Rogue that you guys killed. Maybe that Rogue was his Father. It would-"

"Give him a motive," I finish. "He would be getting back at me."

"Exactly," Jolin says.

"Yeah, but say that he has no connection to the Rogue you killed," Ashton says.

"Then it would have to be someone else, I guess," Alec says.

"Let's do a handwriting test or something. He went to school. One of his teachers must have a paper of his or something," I point out.

"True," Ethan says. "We'll have to get there before the school closes. It's already 3:34. Who's going?"

Jolin and Riley both want to go with Ethan to the school.

"You guys," I say, looking at Ashton and Alec, "can go look around anywhere for some Rogues. Look in the east, and I'll look in the west woods. Mind-link me the second you find anything."

Without giving them time to reply, I get up.

Skylar

I arch my back, screaming incohorent things. I don't even understand what I'm saying. All I know is that my shoulders are broken and it is the greatest pain I've ever felt.

"Have you learned you're lesson yet," Nate asks wickedly.

"Y-yes, I-I-I'm so sorry," I cry. Tears streamed down my face and I could feel them sliiping down my neck.
