Skylar

I jump awake when my alarm goes off, ready to go to school. Ethan said he didn't mind dropping me off, so he was my ride. It was really nice of him, considering he was a werewolf and I was a human. Especially since he's the Third-in-Command of the three man pack.

Running over to the shower, I feel the familiar excitement bubble inside of me. The smile spread across my face on its own accord, and I didn't fight to make it disappear. Today will be a good day. I'll go to school for the first day, and it will be awesome...

How can I be so selfish?

The thought popped in my mind as I rinsed the soap off. I wasn't supposed to be going to a real school all by myself. Cairo would be with me, and we would see what classes we had with each other. And we'll find friends and try to set each other up. Maybe I'd find Cairo her perfect match, and she'd find mine.

I turn the water off as I feel tears run down my cheeks, and swipe angrily at the tears. Once again, I've failed my Dad. Cairo and her family are somewhere out there, or they may be dead. I was supposed to look after them, but did I? No.

"Sky, are you ready?" Ethan calls suddenly.

Sky? Did he just call me Sky?

A warm, tingly feeling filled me and I found myself blushing.

"Almost," I answer, pulling on black jeans. I then put a red bra on underneath a pretty purple shirt. Looking around for shoes to wear, I try to bury the guilt building up inside of me.

"Coming," I yell after putting on purple wedges with gold studs on the sides.

"You look pretty," Ethan compliments when I get downstairs. "But are you gonna put a coat on? It's supposed to be really cold today."

"Oh yeah," I say, chuckling. I run upstairs, then look in the closet for a coat. I pick out a black coat with fur, and just as I walk out, I notice my hair. It was poofy and tangled, and I wondered how Ethan thought that I looked beautiful.

I run a brush through my hair, and then put it in a high ponytail.

"You are gonna be late, Sky!"

"Okay, okay, I'm coming," I yell, racing downstairs.

I was breathless by the time I got down, and I looked at the time.

"You wanna eat real quick," Ethan asks, frowning.

"No, I'm fine. Let's go," I say, excitement overpowering the guilt.

I take his hand and lead him to his Maserati, nearly shoving him in his seat.

"Okay, drive," I order once I put on my seatbelt.

"Wait, first, I want to give you something," he says, and twists around in his seat to grab something.

I smile when he shows me a light purple backpack, already filled with supplies.

"Aww, thanks," I say, smiling genuinely.

He blushes and takes off, mumbling a, "you're welcome."

I was basically bouncing up and down when the school finally came into view. It was huge, and I could see hundreds of teenagers, a lot of them werewolves. This made me really nervous. I was the new human, who would want to be friends with me? Everyone already seemed to have their own clique, and I felt like an intruder.

I turn around, hoping to see Ethan's Maserati, but it's already gone. That actually sucks because I had hoped that I could jump in the car and tell him that I wasn't ready. I wasn't lying. My heart seemed ready to pound out of my ribcage, and I'm sure that would really be bad for me.
