Our thoughts stayed unspoken
beneath an overcast sky—
one painted in London gloom.

I was a young child,
wrapped in my little world,
but that day,
even I felt the blue.

Near the wharf,
the world held its breath—
the water stilled,
even the gulls stayed quiet.

As if they knew
the hourglass had emptied,
and our time
was trickling away.

The clouds wept—
their tears stirring
the forever goodbyes.

And the man I once knew
faded into nevermore
as Mama took my hand
and led me
away
from once-upon glee.
