Dear Wendy Diary,
I'm going to Australia for my thirteenth birthday with my best friends! Dad doesn't want me going anywhere that I would be completely out of his sight and mom also dislikes the idea. But my friends promised to take care of me. I've never done something like this and I'm really excited. I just hopes it goes well.
Excerpt: 12 yrs old Jin.
~Jinnx~
Seeing the yellow glow coming from the music lecture room made me bitter even before I entered it. And entering it proved my thoughts right.
With how much they were glowing, it was obvious that everyone there was going to pass their exams that were coming up the next week. And they would pass it well.
How I knew all that? Simple. The yellow thread. It was all around them. The yellow string of luck. Luck that I barely even had.
And now that I was inside the lecture room, the glow had dimmed down. Somehow, my presence always made people's luck dwindle. Maybe it's my name. Jinnx. It was a double curse of jinx and jinn in my opinion. Maybe that's why my own string was literally just wrapped around my left middle finger like the joke it was.
And even worse, no one else could see it. Why could I see it if I didn't have it in abundance? What was the point?
At the end of the room, there were many different musical instruments. But one in particular called to me. A beautiful grand piano that took up most of the space there and seemed a little isolated from the other instruments. It was also wrapped in luck. Like it was alive.
I liked objects like that. They felt like artifacts. And sometimes, they made me feel like I could draw some more luck from them even though I always ended up dimming it.
Some people noticed me as I walked deeper into the lecture room towards the piano, giving me strange looks like, 'Who's that?' While some actually gave me smiles and waved which I returned. They seemed nice in general which made me glad.
Getting to it and sitting down on the piano seat that was before it, I skimmed my fingers across the white and black keys. At that moment, I felt it. A really strong presence of luck. So strong that it gave me goosebumps.
Who in the world... ?
"You're touching my piano." I heard a male voice say behind me which made my fingers pause and me to look behind me.
A tall guy stood behind me. I didn't know his exact height, but he was definitely above 6'0, which was a lot compared to my 5'1 figure. His hair was an almost unnaturally bright golden blond and cascaded down a little below his shoulders in very loose waves.
He had this androgynous look. Perfectly pretty dainty-like features on his face but still looking powerful and strong. I'd never seen anyone like that in real life.
And then, I saw his luck. It looked... magical. His strings were woven all together right behind him in the shape of massive golden bird wings. And they weren't even spread out. He and his luck looked beautiful. Beautiful and intimidating.
"Didn't you hear me?" He asked in a smooth voice. It sounded like how I'd imagined chocolate to sound. If chocolate didn't like me for some reason. I glanced up at him. I couldn't decide if his eyes were blue or green. Sea green was my best deduction.
His sea green eyes stared deeply into my left bright brown eye since my right one was concealed by a white medicated eye patch. His expression changed from mildly bothered to disturbed in a split second. He looked like he was uncomfortable with my presence. Like he'd seen something he didn't approve of. He took a step backwards. "Get away from it." He ordered.
