Yulia-16 years

It was terrifying,
General Kirigan stood on the other side of the door Yulia was about to knock on,

She knocked twice and a deep voice came
"Come in"

She let out a shaky breath and walked inside, Yulia could feel her hands shake,
Would he yell at her?
Tell her she was being silly?

"Ah, Miss Tarasova, to what do I owe the pleasure?" He said looking up at her from his desk

"I'm apologise for intruding at this late hour" she said quietly

"Nonsense, come, tell me, what is it you need"
He stood up

She took a few deep breaths and-
"I'm worried about genya, we are having a conversation about different nobles who have come to visit recently and she said she wanted me to be carful of powerful men and she only said that when we started talking about the king, and- I mean- we've all heard the rumours but she wouldn't! I mean, why would she, have you seen him-"

He gently cut her off as she let out a big breath, having said all of that in one go

"It is very kind of you to be worried about your fellow grisha but I trust that if something were going on Miss Safin would tell me-" he put a hand in her shoulder, trying to calm her breathing
"-do I make you nervous, Miss Tarasova?"

"What?" She asked

"Your breathing is manic and your heart is beating very fast..."

She didn't notice but his hand hand moved a little closer to her pulse
She huffed
"Well- no offence, but your quite intimidating" she shrugged nonchalantly

He let out a deep chuckle
"Yes, I can see how it might come off that way"

"Well I ought to go, the queen will have my head if I don't get up early to see to her" Yulia laughed a little and got up to leave but stopped as she heard a-

"Oh"

"What is it?" She asked, frowning slightly

"Oh, it's nothing, if you must go then I will not stop you" General Kirigan said solemnly

Guilt flooded her system
She hadn't mean hurt his feelings
"Well- I- um- I guess I could stay for a little longer, if you wish" she smiled gently

"Well, I suppose I could use some company" Kirigan sat back down at the desk and they talk deep into the evening...

Narrator POV

Levina waited around the corner fiddling with a small axe.
And by small I mean, really small, the size of a dagger but the handle and blade of a battle axe.
Kaz had given 8 of them to her, She didn't know where he got them from, quite honestly she didn't want to know.
Inej had taught her how to throw then and strap 4 of them around the front of her ribs for easy access and two were stuffed up each sleeve.

"Your a tailor, your an advantage for that but you became a liability if you can't defend yourself"

Those were Kaz's words, they seemed harsh but in reality, she knew it was just so she didn't die.

She heard the tearing it paper from around the corner and saw kaz ripping up a wanted picture of them,

"I'm even on that one too! How is that fair?" She complained as she walked next to him,
