What If You Experienced Every Human Life in History?

What if you experienced every human life in history?

Grew up with brown, white, black skin,

Looked in the mirror and saw blue and green eyes,

Walked every imprint and dove in every ocean.

Suffered the breath of an aching lie.

Slaughtered and reaped the heart beats of many,

Cried until your hands stopped shaking.

Laughed until your lungs stopped playing,

Wailed until the monsters stopped waking.

Charged across war fields,

Hid six feet beneath the mud.

The brutal sounds of swords colliding with iron shields,

And the cool drip of screaming blood.

Sliding across the moon's white crest,

Got tossed through the seas,

Drowned before you could take your first breath,

Cut down before you could see your first tree.

Saw those you loved breathe and fall away,

Held hands with lovers, mothers, brothers, and prey.

Traced every path of cosmic starlight,

Danced through the most extraordinary sights.

I only wish for little,

For my life to be long and free.

But peace is not easy,

Such they say is liberty.

But I say the world is magnificent,

Full of the strong and the weak.

Don't stray too far––it's not safe.

Not for you, everyone, and me.
