The Sullys

Aonung's POV

The loud sound of a conch shell being blown wakes me from what one was the best sleep of my life.

My feet kick up sand as I jog out of my family's pod. I look over and see a large group of Na'vi all circling around something.

Unconsciously I walk over. A hand slapping me on my back captures my attention.

"Yo Aonung! There are forest na'vi here!" Rotxo exclaims. I pick up my pace and make my way through the group to the front.

Toruk Makto and his family stand before my father. Palulukan Makto steps forward and greets my father.

"Alexis, fierce warrior, I see you." My father  smiles briefly before his eyes widen as mother approaches from behind.

"I see you, Ronal, Tsakik of the Metkayina people." Jake Sully acknowledges. She nods at him and her eyes move to Alexis Sully, her eyes soften at the sight of her old friend.

"I see you Ronal." Alexis smiles. My mother smiles in return, slightly gasping.

"Alexis! Is it really you? It's been years." She takes one of Alexis's hair beads in her hand and admires it.

"Why do you come to us?" Tonowari asks, breaking the silence.

"We seek sanctuary, for my family." Jake pleads.

My father shakes his head, his braids swinging around. "We are sea people, you are forest people, your skills mean nothing here."

"Well then we will learn your ways." Jake looks to his mate. She nods her head and Ronal gives her a look of sympathy. She's about to let them stay!

Then I remember, Vida. If they Sully's get to stay, myself and Tsireya would probably have to be the ones to train them, meaning someone else would take over being Vida's 'guard'. They would most definitely treat her badly so I couldn't let that happen.

I had nothing against the Sully's and I feel horrible for what I'm about to do but I have no choice.

I briefly study their bodies to make my case.

I walk up behind Alexis and grab her tail.

She gasps and squints her eyes at me. I feel terrible but I have to do this.

"Their tails are weak." I shrug. I move over to the first born daughter and hold arm up. "They will be slow in the water." I dramatically fake gasp when I sees her hands. "They're not even true Na'vi! They have demon blood!" I raise her hand higher to draw attention to it.

People around us start to back away. My parents his at me and pull me away.

Jake shakes his head. "Look," He holds up his four fingered hand, "I was born of the Sky People but now I am Na'vi. We can adapt! We will adapt." This gains some trust back from the crowd.

No!

Alexis holds her hands up too. Tonowari and Ronal send apologetic looks their way.

"Toruk Makto is a great war leader, all Na'vi people know his story. But we, Metkayina, are not at war." My ears flatten as the mother picks up her youngest child and holds her on her hip. "We cannot let you bring your war here."

"We're done with war," She says looking at Jake, "we just want to keep our family safe. Please." She practically begs.

"Do we have to go?" Tuk -the youngest- whimpers.

Her plead was the thing that sent my parents over the edge.

My parents share a look before turning back to the Sully's.

My father jabs his spear into the sand. "Toruk Makto and his family will stay with us. Treat them as our brothers and sisters. They do not know the sea, so they will be like babies, taking their first breath. Teach them our ways so they do not suffer the shame of being useless."

Damn it. My plan failed and I probably just made a few enemies.

"What do we say?" Jake turns to the boys.

"Thank you." "Thanks." I can hear the eye roll in the oldest girls sentence. "Thank you."

"My son, Aonung and my daughter Tsireya will show you where your new home is. They will teach your children the way of water." Tonowari silently glares at me as a warning to not behave out of line again. Or else.

Tsireya happily skips over to the family with her hands clasped neatly in front of her. "Come, I will show you the village." We all follow behind her.

What am I going to do?
