(That title could also be translated to "dregs" and I wasn't sure which one I wanted to make it... But I decided to leave it as "remains" due to the fact that it's more than just the people characterizing the old ways of the village).

.  .  .

After paying a visit to the Mizukage, the students were guided to their luxurious accommodations. Sarada had never laid eyes on a hotel so extravagant.

A fountain sat in the center of the atrium lobby, guests looking down on the new inhabitants like ants from the floors above. The ground was blanketed with a fluffy carpet, ornate decorations and furnishings lining the walls.

Upon asking, Sarada figured out that this hotel wasn't anything special. It seemed as though multiple just like it existed in just the Village of the Mist alone.

"I'm going to check you in, so please wait here. Afterwards, I'll take you around to places of interest within the village." Kagura left the students in the lobby's rest area and went up to the front counter.

Sarada, along with the rest of her classmates, simply sat in the indicated area and took in the grandiose of the hotel. Even though they were students from the academy, they had been on their feet, standing and walking around since morning. If there was time to rest—until they got bored, that was—they would welcome it with gratitude.

Boruto was captivated by the color changing fountain, his eyes zoned off in that direction for a long time.

"Seems like that guy has got a lot going for him," said Cho-Cho. Her hand was in a bag of potato chips as it always seemed to be.

"Hm? You mean Kagura-san?" Denki asked.

"Who else would I be talking about?" Cho Cho smiled a carefree smile.

Here we go again.

This was a habit of Cho-Cho's that Sarada couldn't seem to keep up with. She was a maiden of many loves, always looking for romance. Despite Cho-Cho's obsession, it wasn't like Sarada was completely uninterested in the prospect of love. She just found Cho-Cho's constant switching around to be a bit much sometimes.

"Karatachi Kagura. Became a Chunin in the Village of the Mist two years ago."

As Mitsuki chimed into the conversation, Denki couldn't help but comment. "You sure do know a lot, don't you?"

"I learned a lot in The Village of Hidden by the Sound."

Mitsuki was born in a small country called The Land of Sound, As far as Sarada knew, Mitsuki specialized in espionage while he was there. Perhaps that's where all of his knowledge came from.

"And? Do you know anything else?"

For once, Boruto decided to join the conversation. Perhaps he wanted to know more about his new friend. However, the next thing Mitsuki said was nothing short of surprising.

"He's been chosen to be one of the new Seven Ninja Swordsmen. Not only that, he's also been chosen as the successor to the Mizukage's former blade: the hiramekarei."

...The seven ninja swordsmen!

Even Sarada, who didn't know much about the Village of the Mist, recognized that name.

"The Seven Ninja Swordsmen... You mean, the Seven Swordsmen?!" Shikadai also raised his voice in surprise.

When discussing the battle between the villages of the Leaf and Mist, the Seven Ninja Swordsmen almost always made an appearance.

"What's that?" asked Boruto with mild confusion. It seemed as though Cho-Cho and Denki had no idea what was going on either.

"You really have no interest in history, do you..."

Shikadai began to explain in an easy-to-understand manner. "Listen to this. The founder of The Village of the Mist, the very first Mizukage, gave seven swords to seven shinobi. The swords were imbued with some sort of energy that made it so the owner couldn't choose the sword; the sword chose the owner. The seven shinobi that own the seven swords became known as 'the seven ninja swordsmen.'"

"I've heard of them... It's said that if all seven are gathered, they'd have enough power to take out a country." Sarada tacked on to Shikadai's explanation.

"Back when he was still taking missions, Dad fought with one of them in the Fourth Great Shinobi War. He said they weren't all that," replied Inojin.

"Does that mean they're about on the same level as Kakashi-san, our advisor?" asked Denki.

"Maybe in disguise," said Shikadai.

Sarada just stood there, taking in the conversation. But their topic didn't change Cho-Cho's one-track mind at all. In fact, she seemed satisfied, sitting there with a smile on her face.

"Seems like his future plan is set in stone! I finally found a man who is worthy of me."

Most of the people standing in the general vicinity let out a sigh upon hearing Cho-Cho's words. But one brave soul decided to cut her down. And that brave soul was Inojin.

"If we're talking about people with a bright future and lineage, wouldn't Boruto be the same?"

It was true. Boruto was the Hokage's son. He had the right origins and the same genius. His looks were preferable, and he had a considerably bright path for the future. Despite being an academy student, he had mastered the higher level shadow clone jutsu, and was skilled at taijutsu and tonjutsu (elemental jutsu).

I see. It was true that in all technicality, Boruto wasn't inferior to Kagura. That is, if you only took into account the idealized bulleted list of Cho-Cho's reasons for liking him.

But Cho-Cho only laughed through her nose and continued eating potato chips. "That's just the magic of his title. In other words, you're being deceived by the fact that he's the hokage's son. Potato chips are all made from potatoes, but the flavor of each one differs depending on the bag."

No matter what was said, Cho-Cho almost always went at her own pace.

"Sorry for the wait!" The voice belonged to Kagura. It seemed like he was finally done with the check-in process. "After you've put away your luggage, I'll take you to The Village of the Mist's Academy!"

Those words were music to Sarada's ears. Her interest in the Village of the Mist was steadily growing with each new discovery.
