Chapter eight: What I'm Seeking

A/N: Fist off I'm sorry for the late update! I try to update every Sunday but I lost track this week, so uhh here it is! Also I know Cedric is technically the seeker of the Hufflepuff team but just for the story line of this particular chapter we're going to pretend he's not the seeker, kay? Okay!

[Y/N]'S POV:

My eyes slowly fluttered open, taking in the warm environment of my dorm room. I shifted and lifted my torso up with my forearms, eyes falling onto the green gown I still had on. I rubbed my tired eyelids with the palm of my hand as I attempted to wake myself up.

'I'm still in this dress?' I questioned myself. 'I don't even remember falling asleep. What even happened last night?' That's when it all started to come back to me. 'That's right, Malfoy was here... And was being nice... And really fucking attractive. He's so pretty. For what? What's the reason? He had no right being that beautiful.'

Slowly I rolled out of bed and noticed none of my roommates were around. They must have stayed over in their dates room or gotten up early, one of the two. So, I moved to my dresser and changed out of the elegant green dress and into something a bit more comfortable.

It was a weekend, so there were no classes today. But, if I remember correctly there is a game today. Why Hogwarts decided to have a game right after a ball is beyond me, seems rather dumb to me. After all wouldn't all the students be tired? Whatever, it's not like it's my problem anyway, because I'm not on the team.

Making my way down to the common room there were various students chatting and socializing, but my eyes fell onto one person in particular who happened to be dressed in full quidditch gear, Diggory. He smiled at me as we made eye contact and I neared him.

"Going to the game?" He asked enthusiastically and I nodded in response, still a little too tired to use my words. "Good!" Cedric exclaimed, "We can head over to the field together, if you're alright with being a little early?"

"Of course!" I confirmed. And with that the two of us were on our way, making the long walk to the quidditch field.

Once we got there Cedric and I neared the Hufflepuff team which were huddled together in the middle of the field, speaking frantically with one another, but I wasn't so captivated by their chatter but instead with the Slytherin team across the field. Malfoy's blonde locks stood out like a sore thumb and I couldn't help but smile. I thought he was endearing, especially after last night. I think maybe I sorta developed a crush on the boy.

"Hellooooo! Earth to [y/n]!" Cedric called out, waving his hand dramatically in front of my face to which I let out a questioning hum. "Did you hear any of that?" I shook my head no as an answer and he sighed. "Our seeker's out today, we need a replacement, just for this game." He began to explain but was cut off by one of the chasers.

"We were asking if you knew how to fly, American?" He rudely intervened.

"No, they don't teach us how to fly at Ilvermorny." I said sarcastically, which wasn't picked up by anyone on the team, making me huff and roll my eyes. "Yes, obviously I know how to fly, that's a universal thing in the wizarding world!" Cedric was the only one to crack a smile at my comment. "And before you ask, yes I can fill in as a seeker."

"Great! Let's get you geared up!" My friend cheerfully said as the other team members cheered gratefully. Cedric then began to walk me over to the locker rooms, which happened to be right past the Slytherin team. I locked eyes with Malfoy who gave me a confused expression.
