Chapter 31

July 2018

Today was Jasmine's six month birthday. Aurora and Chris had decided early on that they would celebrate every month until Jasmine turned one. Usually on any month birthday, the two of them would get a small cake, mainly for Aurora and Chris since Jasmine didn't start eating actual food until last month. But they felt that six months was more special so they decided to do a very small celebration. They would still be getting a small cake but they had invited a few people. Joan, Scott, and Zendaya were going to be coming over to celebrate with them.

"I can't believe she's six months already," Aurora sobbed out. Her and Chris were currently in the bathroom with Jasmine giving her a bath.

"I know," Chris sighed as he gently rubbed the body wash on the little girls body. "It feels like she was just born yesterday and look at her now. Already so big."

"Soon she'll be walking and talking and then she's going to leave us!"

"Well the walking and talking will happen soon but I think we still have a few years until she leaves us sweetheart," Chris chuckled. He rinsed off her body and grabbed her ducky towel and wrapped her up in it. "You're not going to leave us. Right princess," he said as he started blowing raspberries on her small belly, making her squeal in laughter.

"God, I'll never get tired of hearing that sound," Aurora gushed.

"Me either," he chuckled. They both walked into her nursery to get her changed and ready. Aurora grabbed the yellow gingham dress they bought for her to wear today while Chris worked on drying her off. "What time is everyone coming?" He asked as he put on her diaper.

Aurora started putting her dress on, "I told them around 2 but my mom said she was gonna get here at 1:30 with the food. She said she's bringing Italian because she wanted to watch Jas make a mess with spaghetti."

"Sounds just like Joan," he chuckled.

"I'm surprised this is the first time she's making Italian for you. She usually loves to show off her skills," Aurora joked.

"Maybe she doesn't like me enough to make it for me."

"Are you kidding? My mom loves you. She tells me all the time," she giggled. "Z is picking up the cake for us and Scott said he had to run to the store to pick up some last minute thing."

"Well our little princess is ready and looks absolutely adorable might I add, and we still have like an hour until your mom gets here. I'm hot and little hungry so I was thinking of making a smoothie, do you want one too?"

"Ohh yes please."

Chris carried Jasmine downstairs with Aurora following him. He handed Jasmine to Aurora while he began cutting up fruit and throwing it into the blender. He served two full glasses for them, making sure to grab a baby spoon so that they could share with Jasmine. They kept a few bibs in a kitchen drawer so Chris grabbed one so that Jasmine wouldn't dirty her new dress. He handed Aurora her smoothie before taking a seat next to her at the kitchen island. Jasmine was sat on the counter between them as they took turns feeding her some of their smoothie. They sat and talked for the next hour before they heard a knock on their front door.

Chris walked over to answer it and a smiling Joan was on the other side. "Hi Chris," she smiled.

"Hi Joan! Thank you so much for coming!" He greeted her with a hug and kiss on the cheek.

"Anything for my beautiful granddaughter! I have the food in the car, do you think you can come help me?"

"Of course. Aurora is in the living room with Jasmine so just go in with them."
