She dons her cloud-white gloves of lace, adjusts her collared dress.
Her parasol of ivory she opens to impress.
With pompadour and floral hat she's now ready to be
The Gibson Girl ideal of polite society.
She poses for the followers of vintage womenswear.
The passers-by record or smile. One man stops and stares:
"Now that's how girls today should dress. Modest, moral, true."
Our model turns to face him, hoping not to seem too rude:
"Monsieur, we'll wear just what we want. That's not up to you.
Veils, headscarves, crop-tops, skirts — we do what we do."
