Bang! Bang! Bang! "Hey! Let me in!"
Kid got up, albeit reluctantly, and went over to the door. He looked out through the peephole, and motioned for me to go upstairs. I obeyed, but I only went just out of view, as I had left my suitcase with all my stuff downstairs.
I heard Kid open the door, "Hello Spirit, is it seven already? I suppose I lost track of time, forgive me. I don't know if Y/N is up yet, but she might need me to bring her suitcase up, excuse me for a moment." Kid closed the door on him. "You can come back down Y/N"
I walked back down the stairs. Kid picked up my suitcase and walked over to me. "Come on," he started, "I'll show you to the guest room." Together we went to the second floor, and he took me down a hallway. "There's a free room by me, but if you'd rather stay with Liz or Patty I'm sure they wouldn't mind."
"Oh, no. The free room is perfectly fine."
"Okay, well. I'll be down stairs when you're ready to eat." After that, he left, closing the door behind him.
I picked out a plain black shirt and a pair of jeans and changed. Putting my hair into a ponytail, I walked out of the room and to the living room. Spirit was sitting on the couch, arms and legs crossed.
"Is she alright? I should probably go check on her..." Spirit mumbled.
"No need. I'm here."
Spirit whipped around, and a smile appeared on his face. "Good morning! You didn't stay up too late did you?"
I shook my head, "No, I don't think so. What time is it right now?"
"About seven ten," Kid answered, appearing from the kitchen, "and I've started breakfast, if you're hungry."
"Okay," I replied, and headed towards the kitchen.
As I passed behind the couch, I felt a hand grab my wrist. "Are you okay? You seem a little uneasy."
"Oh, yup, I'm good. All good."
Spirit narrowed his eyes on me. "Okay, well. Just know that I'm here, if you need to talk. Or leave."
I nodded, a little bit off put by that last bit. Why would I want to leave? I tried to push it to the back of my mind and went to sit by Kid. He saw that something was bothering with me, but instead of saying anything about it, he just grabbed my hand and rubbed his thumb against it. I moved a little closer to him, and looked at his face. He looked back at me, and tried to give a comforting smile, but it didn't mask how he really felt. But it was okay because I felt the same way.
We were both uncomfortable, in defensive positions. Spirit was making me increasingly uncomfortable around him. Something about him just...set him apart from everyone else. Not in a good way either.
"I'll talk to my Father about him. I don't really believe what Spirit said about being ordered to come here."
I tightened my grip.
"School starts in less than an hour. Hurry it up!" Spirit yelled from the living room.
Kid just rolled his eyes.
Kid got out of his seat, letting go of my hand. He walked over to the cabinet and pulled out a plate. "Are you good to eat anything Y/N? We don't have much in terms of breakfast, but I could make toast and eggs."
I shook my head, "It's alright, I can't eat breakfast. It makes me sick."
"Ah, okay. Well at least have some orange juice," he replied, pulling a glass out. He walked over to the fridge and poured me a cup of juice, and then sat it down in front of me. I picked it up with both hands and brought it up for a drink, and ended up finishing it all at once.
I sat it down with a sigh and watched Kid as he moved around the kitchen, grabbing various items for his meal. He moved with a prestigious grace, countering my clumsy nature. Popping some toast into the toaster, he moved back to the kitchen island where I sat, and leaning onto it opposite me.
We stayed like that for a moment. Slowly, he leaned closer to me, gradually decreasing the distance between us.
Pop! My eyes darted to where the noise came from. The toaster.
Kid sighed, gave me a smirk, and pulled himself off of the island.
My heart was pounding and blood rush drowned out all other noise. Despite the events of last night, he could still fluster me so easily.
Kid tapped me on the shoulder, dragging me out of my thoughts.
"Come on, let's go," he muttered around the toast hanging out of his mouth.
I pushed myself up from my spot and headed towards the front door, "Alright."
And with that, we left for my second day of school.
