Many moons passed and things seemed to be going well with Lai'ra and Neteyam. The Sullys were thrilled to see them together, except for Lo'ak, who felt that Neteyam had taken Lai'ra away from him. He tried to spend as much time with Lai'ra as possible, often without Neteyam around. Not that it was hard, Neteyam was always busy, training or hunting.
"Psst... Pssst Lai'ra, wake up." Lo'ak whispers in her ear as she's asleep. She slowly wakes up and her eyes widen from shock.
"Holy fuck Lo'ak. You scared the shit out of me, you skxawng." She gasps and places her hand over her pounding heart. Lo'ak chuckles playfully, his voice vibrating in the darkness. "I'm sorry mamas but you need to get up, we gotta go flying."
"Right now? It's the middle of the night..." She groans and turns to face away from Lo'ak. He rolls his eyes and flips her over to face him. His face only inches away as he whispers, "I promise you're going to want to see this, you won't regret it. There's something amazing happening in the sky right now." She sighs, annoyed. "Ugh, fine. Let's go."
As Lai'ra got ready to fly, she wondered what could be so special about the middle of the night. Once they were airborne, Lo'ak pointed to the sky, and Lai'ra was amazed. The stars were shining brighter than ever, and a magnificent meteor shower was unfolding in the darkness.

As they flew through the night sky, Lai'ra felt a sense of wonder and awe. "Wow, Lo'ak. This is incredible..." She whispered, shining a bright smile at him. He looks back at her with a cheeky grin and winks at her. As they flew further, flying circles around one another, Lo'ak couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy towards Neteyam. He never went out adventuring with Lai'ra, or really did anything special for her and it made Lo'ak angry. Lai'ra deserved more, and he was willing to give it to her. He knew he was wild and always getting into trouble, an outcast, and considered a freak for his human features. And Neteyam would seem like the better choice for anyone. But even so, he knew his connection with Lai'ra was stronger.

As the meteor shower came to an end and they began to fly back home, Lo'ak's mind was consumed with thoughts of Lai'ra and how he could show her he cared about her more than Neteyam ever could. He needed to do something to prove to her that he was the better choice, that he could give her everything she deserved.

Lai'ra and Lo'ak's eyes met as they landed back at the village. Her heart was pounding, and she felt a sudden rush of feelings that she hadn't felt before. He always took the time to make sure they went off on adventures and paid close attention to things she liked and cared about. She walked up to him, tilting her head up to gaze softly into his eyes. "Thank you Lo'ak, that was really special." She whispered, feeling a deep appreciation for him. As she pulled him into a warm embrace, she could feel the muscles in his back flexing, and the way his arms enveloped her made her feel safe and cherished. In that moment, she felt a sense of longing that she couldn't quite understand. Lo'ak hugged Lai'ra back tightly, feeling her warmth and softness against his own body. He couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement as he held her in his arms. It was moments like these that made him feel alive and happy, and he knew he wanted to feel this way forever. As they slowly pulled away from the embrace, he gazed down at her with intensity, his heart beating faster in his chest. "Goodnight, mamas. I'll see you tomorrow." He said with a hint of reluctance, not wanting to let her go.
He leaned down and gave her a tender kiss on the forehead before turning to walk home, his mind racing with thoughts of Lai'ra. As he walked away, he couldn't help but feel a deep sense of longing, knowing that he wanted to be with her, to explore every corner of her soul, to make her happy in every way possible. He knew that it was just a matter of time before he had to tell her how he really felt.

As he approaches the Marui he sees Neteyam creeping around outside. Lo'ak squints his eyes suspiciously and quickly runs up to him. "Neteyam?"
Neteyam turns around and faces Lo'ak, his expression guarded. "Lo'ak. What are you doing here?" He asks, his tone defensive. Lo'ak narrows his eyes and steps closer to him. "I could ask you the same thing, bro. What are you doing lurking around the Marui at this time of night?" He retorts, crossing his arms over his chest. Neteyam shifts uncomfortably and looks away.
"I just...I was just spending some time with Lai'ra..." He mumbles. Lo'ak nods slowly, narrowing his eyes even more as he's wondering why Neteyam just told him a bold-faced lie. Lo'ak decides to press further. "Really? Because I just spent the last hour flying with her and watching the meteor shower. So, where were you?" He asks, his tone cold and accusatory. Neteyam hesitates before answering, "I was...I was just checking on her. Making sure she was okay." Lo'ak doesn't buy it. He shakes his head and steps closer to Neteyam, his voice lowering. "You're lying, Neteyam." Neteyam rolls his eyes. "Just leave it, Lo'ak. I'm tired." Lo'ak feels a surge of anger at Neteyam's dismissive attitude. "No, I won't just leave it. I want to know what's going on." He steps even closer to Neteyam, looming over him. Neteyam takes a step back, furrowing his brow angrily. "I said I was checking on her, okay? Is that so hard to believe?" Lo'ak shakes his head. "Yes, it is. You've been acting strange lately, and I don't fucking like it."
Neteyam clenches his jaw, his fists balling up at his sides. "What are you trying to say, Lo'ak?" He asks through gritted teeth. Lo'ak takes a deep breath before answering, his voice low and menacing. "I'm saying that I know you're hiding something from me, and it's starting to piss me off." Neteyam's eyes narrow, and he takes a step forward, standing up to Lo'ak's menacing stance. "And what if I am hiding something? What business is it of yours?" He snarls. Lo'ak doesn't back down. "Because we're brothers, asshole. What you do, especially if it's something that will hurt Lai'ra, is my fucking business." Neteyam's face contorts with anger. "Back off... now." He says through gritted teeth as he pushes Lo'ak away. Lo'ak glares at him and says nothing. Neteyam scoffs at him. "Smart choice." He leaves Lo'ak and walks into the Marui. Lo'ak lets out an irritated sigh. "Mother fucker." He spits angrily before walking into the Marui as well and goes to bed.

Lai'ra wakes up the next morning feeling refreshed and happy after experiencing the meteor shower from the night before. But the newfound emotions she experienced were still lingering. She decides to brush it off and go find Neteyam, but to her surprise he's standing right outside.

"Oh, hi love. I was just coming to find you." She smiles sweetly up at him and gives him a kiss on the cheek. His expression is stoic, and he doesn't return the greeting. Lai'ra notices Neteyam's cold demeanor and furrows her brows in concern. "Is everything okay?" She asks, taking his hand in hers. Neteyam pulls his hand away, taking a step back. "Did you have fun with Lo'ak last night?" He says, his tone serious. Lai'ra looks at Neteyam, confused by his sudden change in behavior. "Uh, yeah I did. We watched the meteor shower together. What of it?" She answers, still holding onto her confusion and raises her brow at him, annoyed. Neteyam's expression darkens further. "Did you guys talk about me?" Lai'ra snorts, "Are you being for real right now? No we didn't actually. What the fuck is this about?" As Lai'ra continues to look at Neteyam with a mix of confusion and annoyance, he avoids her gaze and takes a step back. "Nevermind, forget I asked." He mutters before turning to walk away. Lai'ra stands there, feeling hurt and bewildered, as she watches him. Is he fucking for real right now? She thinks to herself and decides to run after him. She catches up and pulls him to face her. "Neteyam what is going on, you know that Lo'ak and I's friendship wasn't going to change just because we started dating." Neteyam looks down at Lai'ra and takes a deep breath before responding. "It's not about that. I just...I don't know." He says as he shakes his head. Lai'ra furrows her brow in confusion. "What do you mean, Neteyam?" She asks, feeling a knot form in her stomach. Neteyam's gaze flickers over her face, and she can see the guilt and sadness in his eyes. "I'm sorry," he murmurs, his voice barely audible. "Sorry for being an asshole." Lai'ra feels her heart sink, and she takes a step closer to him, her hand reaching out to rest gently on his arm. "Please, Neteyam." She says softly, "Talk to me. I hate it when you shut me out like this." Neteyam looks at her, his eyes searching hers for a moment before finally speaking. "I'm sorry, it's just...I've been feeling really stressed lately and I think it's getting to me." He says, giving her a weak smile. Lai'ra's expression softens and she reaches up to caress his cheek. "Maybe you should take a break from training and hunting so much, and we can spend more time together. I feel like I hardly get to see you anymore." Her voice low, as she sighs sadly. "I- I miss you, love." She looks up at him, her eyes big as she pouts. The words hit Neteyam hard, and he pulls her close, burying his face in her hair. "I miss you too." He whispers, his voice thick with emotion. "I'm so sorry, I love you." He whispers, but the knot forming in his stomach from the guilt is only growing. "I love you too." She mumbles as her face is buried in his chest. Lai'ra lifts her head up and gazes up at his handsome face. "Now give me a kiss, stupid." Neteyam smiles, and he leans down to press his lips to hers, pouring all his love and regret into the gesture.

Lo'ak was walking along the beach with Rotxo and Tsireya when he overheard the conversation between Lai'ra and Neteyam. Anger boiled inside him as he witnessed Neteyam telling a bunch of lies to her. He didn't have proof, but he felt it inside. "You're so full of shit, bro." He muttered under his breath, shaking his head in disgust. "What did you say?" Tsireya chirped teasingly, nudging him with her elbow. Lo'ak turned to her with a small smile, "Nothing, just talking to myself."
Tsireya rolled her eyes, "You're so weird, dude." She mumbled sarcastically.
Lo'ak couldn't help but chuckle at her remark. His mind, however, was preoccupied with the thought of Lai'ra. He felt an urge to protect her and tell her how he truly felt. As they walked, Lo'ak began devising a plan to express his feelings to Lai'ra.
