One day we'll meet again
And I'll be brave enough to look at you,
We'll talk like we've never met before then
Maybe it'll be like meeting someone new.
One day I won't be scared to hold your hand
And we'll take a walk in the park,
We'll feel our toes in the sand
And like the first time, we'll feel a spark.
One day we'll sit on top of the roof
And watch the stars all night,
And I can give you proof
Of why I was always right.
One day we'll drive through the night
Or maybe we could cycle or skate,
And we'll stay up until we see the light
And we can have a sunrise date.
One day I'll read out all my poems to you
And you'll tell me that you've known all along,
That you were my favourite view
And your laughter was my favourite song.
One day you'll talk to my father
About workout routines and diet plans,
And you'll tell him how I'm a bother
Because I keep collecting soda cans.
One day I'll talk to your mother
And she'll tell me about when you were young,
One joke after another
We would laugh until our ears rung.
One day I'll pray with you
After praying for you for so long,
I'd hope that you would too
Because with you I want to belong.
One day we'll talk about our past
And all our foolish mistakes,
When we were going way too fast
And didn't know where were the breaks.
One day we'll look back
And realise we had to say goodbye,
All those days that seemed black
Were needed for us to again say, "Hi."
"One day" is a vision I see
It is a promise I'll try to keep,
When I fall into the sea
I hope it won't be too deep.
"One day" is a promise
I fear neither of us can keep,
And I'm afraid that weight which is on us
Will push us in too deep.
"One day" seems far away right now
But it comes nearer everyday,
The hope keeps me going somehow
And I hope I go the right way.
