It's been a few months since Overwatch officially regrouped to deal with the dire situation the world is experiencing. Old and new members have come together to ensure the safety of the entire planet in the face of the many crises that threaten it. It's just another morning at the Gibraltar Observatory, the current headquarters of the new Overwatch, the available team members gather to receive an unexpected update from Winston, the brains of the team. Apparently, one of the new additions to the team, known as D.Va, had heard some rumors about Japan, back in her native Korea. She couldn't confirm anything, but she thought it prudent to let Winston know. Thus, now it was the latter who explained that to those present.

"Hana highlighted a place near Tokyo where there could be problems: Kanezaka." The gorilla commented to them while the screens around the room showed some photographs of that village.

As soon as they heard that name, two of those present would be slightly surprised. These were Tracer and Mercy, who would turn to look at each other in silence, before the first one spoke.

"Kanezaka... That was Genji's home." Pointed the brown-haired girl, referring to the cyborg who wasn't present at the moment.

"Indeed." Winston would answer, preparing a softer tone for what he would say next. "And that's why I thought... it would be a good idea to send him on a reconnaissance mission."

Those present would be clearly surprised, and again Tracer would be the first to dare to speak, followed by the doctor at her side.

"Wow... Wait, are you sure? Don't you think that would carry a lot of emotional weight for Genji?"

"As a doctor I have to agree with Lena, it might not be the best for Genji." The blonde would pause for a bit, before continuing with a slightly lower tone. "And for that I hate to admit that... perhaps it's our best option.

"What? Are you serious, doc?" Tracer would ask in response, clearly concerned.

"He lived and grew up there. He is the one who knows the area best. Also, we know better than anyone how efficient Genji is. He could go take a look without anyone knowing he was there."

The exchanges of opinions would continue for a few more moments, only to be interrupted when a familiar silhouette appeared in the room; Like a shadow coming out of hiding. It was Genji himself, who had apparently been eavesdropping on everything. As he moved closer to the others, Tracer would speak again, trying to cover it up.

"Oh! Genji! I hope you were able to rest well."

Soon, the ninja would speak in a soft tone, unlike the one he might have used many years ago.

"Don't worry, Lena. I really appreciate your concern." He would respond to the brown-haired, while he placed a hand on one of her shoulders in a friendly way. "Everyone, stay calm. I've made peace with my past. I carry no regrets in my heart."

Thus, the cyborg would be firm before everyone, clarifying his voice in a more determined tone.

"I ask you to entrust me with this mission, please."

Winston would watch Genji closely, sensing his determination. Meanwhile, Mercy would speak again, directing her words at Genji.

"Are you sure, Genji?"

"It's the least I can do. Please.

As he responded, everyone could tell the ninja's complete willingness to the idea. Thus, after a few seconds of silence and an exchange of glances among those present, Winston would officially give the order, showing a confident smile directed at his partner.

"Alright. In that case, we trust you, Genji."

Just a few hours later, everything had been ready for Genji's trip.

The ship carrying Genji took off and began to take to the skies, the soft hum of its engines filling the air. Genji was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed as he concentrated on his breathing. He meditated, in an attempt to calm his thoughts on the way to the place that was his home. He was not alone for the moment; Tracer was in the cockpit, keeping a close eye on the ship's instruments as he piloted them to their destination. She would only be in charge of taking Genji, because that way his arrival would be sooner. Genji's thoughts returned to the conversation he had with the others before leaving. He couldn't help but feel a sense of duty and responsibility towards his homeland. After all, Kanezaka was where he grew up, where he learned the ways of the ninja and where he lost his humanity. It was a place that held great meaning for him. His thoughts, however, would be interrupted by the voice of his companion, who would have noticed his restlessness as she glanced back from her seat.

"Are you okay, love?" She would ask, with slight concern.

Genji would open his eyes and turn to look at her. "I'm fine, Lena. I only reflect on my mission."

Tracer frowned slightly. "Are you sure you want to do this alone? It's not like you really owe it to Overwatch or anything."

Genji gently shakes his head in denial. "You're wrong... I owe you a lot. I owe it to you to be someone better. It's about doing the right thing. Amend the mistakes of who I was, with who I am now."

A small smile would form on the brown-haired's face when she noticed her partner's resolution. "Well, if that's the case, know that you're not alone. I support you 100%."

"Thank you, Lena. I appreciate your company as much as always." The ninja would reply, with a slightly relieved tone.

"You're welcome, love. You know I've got your back. It has always been like this and always will be."

Those words would resonate within Genji, who would remember what he himself had said in the meeting a couple of hours ago: "It's the least I can do." Thus, almost without realizing it, the Japanese would speak again, more like thinking aloud. Wishing to sincere the deepest thoughts of him whom she had been a great friend to him for so many years now.

"That's exactly what I mean... This is the least I can do. For the place that saw me born and grow... and for the team that saved my life and became my family."

At that confession, Tracer would show a touched smile, recording her friend's words in her mind. Then, she would focus again on piloting the ship, without saying more. Any other words between the two were unnecessary. They both felt as on the same page as usual. Thus, the rest of the trip was silent, but calm and pleasant. In just a few hours they would reach their destination.
