TW: self-harm, blood ⚠️
That evening came quickly, and Gracie still hadn't seen Ryan come out of his room. She was a little worried.
She knocked on his door and she heard a groan from the other side.
"Ryan, can you please come in the living room. I want to talk to you." She said.
"Okay." She heard him say, very quietly, but it was there.
She walked back and sat on the couch, waiting for Ryan's tall figure to walk down the hall.
It was about 10 minutes of Gracie picking at her fingernails before she saw Ryan. He looked disgruntled and it was obvious he had been crying.
He had seemed okay a couple days ago, and he had even been talking to her quite a bit, but today he hadn't left his room all day. She didn't see him much yesterday either now that she thought about it.
"Ryan, come sit down."
He slowly shuffled toward her and sat down. He kept looking down at his feet and she could tell that he wasn't doing good.
"Ryan, please talk to me." She said.
He didn't say a thing, but she saw a tear slide down his face.
"Oh, Ryan, come here." She said, wrapping her arms around him.
He held her tightly and quiet sobs escaped his mouth. They sat this way for a while. Gracie knew Ryan needed to just let everything out, she was attempting to do the same. Unfortunately, hers just turned into overthinking.
It was starting to get late. The light of the day had faded and the moon shines through the window next to them.
Ryan pulled himself away and quickly wiped his eyes.
"I'm sorry." He said, quietly.
"You don't have to apologize."
"I feel like I need to. I've been clinging to you. I have to seem pathetic by now."
"Ryan, you are not pathetic. You're just hurting, which is normal and completely understandable. This situation would be incredibly hard for anyone to deal with."
"But I feel like I rely on you too much."
"That's okay. If being around me means that you feel a little better, then that's how it is."
"Thank you." Ryan said, shakily.
"No problem." She replies, softly rubbing his shoulder. "I can't imagine what you're going through."
She gives him a sad smile and a tear slowly rolls down his cheek.
He leans in toward her, and his lips rest on hers for a few seconds before she can even process what happened. She puts her hands on his shoulders and pushes him away.
"Ryan!" She yelps. "What was that?!"
"I-I'm so sorry. I-I don't know why I did that." He buries his face in his hands. "I'm so stupid."
She couldn't say anything. She just stared at him in shock.
He pulls his hands away from his face, still crying. "I think- I think I just misplaced my feelings for a second."
"How so?" She asks, still shaken up.
"I-I feel so comforted when I'm around you and...I don't know I just kissed you. I don't like you like that, I swear." He said, flustered.
