Garreth's POV
While each day of studying was long, at the end of the week it seemed to have flown by in the blink of an eye, and it was finally Friday.

The sun was hanging low in the sky, casting a warm orange glow over everything. The autumn air was crisp and refreshing, invigorating the senses. Our team had just finished Quidditch practice and were walking back to the library in a group. Natty, Nellie, and y/n were walking ahead of us, giggling about something that we couldn't hear. I found myself walking next to Leander, the silence between us palpable.

Leander and I had a bit of a falling out the year before, which had caused a major rift in our friendship. He had a reputation for getting into trouble with other students and picking fights, and when I had confronted him about it, it had become a whole ordeal. We had both said things we shouldn't have, and the argument escalated. To my surprise, Leander had been acting like nothing happened since the term started, talking to me like he would before our fight. In all honesty, I had probably been nursing a grudge for longer than was necessary.

"Hey, I was thinking," I started to say, at the same time Leander said "Garreth, I..". I quirked a smile, and we exchanged a knowing look that spoke volumes. We both chuckled, and after some initial awkwardness, soon fell into an easy conversation like old times, reminiscing about our shared memories and discussing our plans for the weekend. I looked over at y/n she was talking about something energetically and moving her hands in time with whatever she was saying. She looked so adorable that I couldn't help but smile at the sight of her.

"So... I've been noticing that you and y/n have been spending a lot of time together lately. I even heard a rumour that the two of you were holding hands at the Hogwarts Express?", Leander kept looking forward as he spoke, although he had a cheeky smile plastered on his face. "Leander, I thought you knew better than to listen to rumours! She's been helping me with my potions, that's all", I kept my gaze forward, trying to sound as nonchalant as possible.

I could feel Leander's eyes on me as he said, "Mate, I've seen the way you look at her, since the day she first arrived. Not to mention how the two of you happen to go missing in the library at the same time every day". He raised an eyebrow. I could feel my cheeks starting to get warm and cleared my throat awkwardly. I didn't think that anyone else had noticed. Leander looked over at me and let out a little laugh, "Don't worry, Garreth, I think everyone else were to occupied with their studying. Besides I only noticed because you kept bringing back all these random books from subjects that you are not taking". He then patted my shoulder, "I am happy for you mate! I have no idea what a pretty girl like her is doing with the likes of you, but you must have done something right". His voice growing more mischievous. "Please tell me you've not been slipping her a small dose of Amortentia every day". I looked over at him incredulously, he broke out laughing as I gave him a shove. "I liked it better when we weren't talking", I said, struggling not to break out laughing as well.

We had reached the door to the library; I had been too distracted by Leander telling me all of this to notice. I pushed the door open with a sigh. I trusted Leander to keep it secret, but rumours had a way of taking on a life of their own at Hogwarts. I was sure that this was the first of many speculations to come.

Poppy and Amit were already sitting together at a large table. After the first day, we had pushed two tables together so that we could all fit around it together. I sat down in my usual spot between Leander and Amit, feeling a sense of belonging and contentment as we settled in to study.

After an hour or two, I jolted at the feeling of someone kicking me in the calf. I looked out with a frown to see y/n looking intently at me, before getting up from her seat. I looked back down at the open textbook in front of me and pretended to be reading a few pages before I also got up. I glanced at Leander, he was smiling into his book as I left the table. As I went looking for y/n, I could feel my heart racing with anticipation.

I found her leaning against a bookshelf, her arms crossed. "Took you long enough", she said in a teasing tone as she slowly walked towards me. "I didn't want to make any of the others suspicio-", she cut me off mid-sentence by wrapping her arms around my neck and kissing me deeply. Believe me, I did not mind in the slightest. The sensation was positively electric, and I felt my body hum in response to her touch. After a good, long, passionate while, we pulled away from each other. I gently brushed her cheek with the back of my hand. I leaned in and whispered in her ear, "Come flying with me tomorrow. I have something special planned". She bit her lip, looking up at me with a mixture of curiosity and excitement plain on her face.

I had a little break, but I am back! Thank you so much for all the nice comments and upvotes. I truly am having so much fun writing this story, I still have a lot planned.

My schedule has freed up again, so I will hopefully have some more chapters for you soon. Thanks again for reading!
