backstory:
chester yungman was always an angry person, he got into fights at school as a child and teen and was kicked out of bars as a young man
"you'll never find yourself a wife if you keep acting like that!" his family, teachers, and higher-ups warned him
"fine by me" he always told them, he didn't need a woman to be happy, nor did he need a reason to get a job that he'd inevitably get fired from for punching his boss or something
this served as a problem to his parents, his dad was a wealthy brooklyn factory owner and needed someone to take over the family business, as chester was his only child he would inherit it by default, but without any work experience under his belt, it was at risk of going bankrupt, and without grandchildren, the family would die out, and who would his parent's spoil whenever they visited?
chester was on a path of an angry drunk, an embarrassment to his family, a disgrace even
that all changed when he met elenor
elenor francis was the daughter of a wealthy man in the fashion industry that was hoping to partner with chester's dad since he owned a clothing factory, they officially met at a fancy party his parents had forced him to attend with them and was introduced to mister francis and his daughter
she was a bright and cheerful girl that saw the best in everyone but knew how to stand her ground and be stubborn when she had to be
chester had fallen for her after only one day and ended up marrying her
he became less angry because she was there to talk some sense into him, she motivated him to get a job and carry the family business
unfortunately, it was found out after two years of marriage that she was infertile, she couldn't bear children, which effectively made her useless, he was encouraged to divorce her, as bearing children was the only reason he had to get married, chester was furious at this, how dare they suggest he remove the woman he loved from his life just because she couldn't give him kids?! he didn't even like kids! they decided to give the inheritance to her brothers oldest son
they had a happy, wonderful life, they had money, power, and most importantly, each other
it was perfect
all good things come to an end, however, in the year 1970, elenor passed away from a heart attack, leaving the poor man devastated
winter, 1973:
chester stumbled over to his chair near the window, muttering about the kids who tried to steal from him earlier that day
"danged kids!" he grumbled "always disrespecting their elders!" he sat down in his chair..... next to elenor's chair
he looked over at the empty chair beside him that had once belonged to his wife, the chair that hadn't been sat on in three years
"i wish i didn't have to live in this world" he thought to himself "i wish i didn't have to live in a world without my elenor" then he fell asleep in the chair one last time
