After sir Kenji finished his inspection tour in the castle town, he headed back to the palace as planned.
The weather changed dramatically, from sunny this morning, into cold and cloudy the afternoon.
He heard a loud thunder sound as then heavy rain started pouring, he was about to head to his room in the solders' section when he heard a voice calling him."Kenji!"
It was none other than king Kakashi, and he didn't seem alone, he was accompanied by his precious daughter, Yara.
Kenji hurried to where the king was, and kneeled down in front of the low balcony where the king and his daughter were watching the rain.
"I see you're back, how's everything going?", Kakashi asked the young man, who kept his gaze low. When was the last time he looked at the princes directly? He doesn't remember, it was only few times when he was little, but now, he only sees her from distance, otherwise he looks down when she is in front of him...
"Eveything is going well as you wish, your royal highness", Kenji replied, not caring that he was soaked by the rain, or that he was shivering from cold.
The princess was watching the knight silently, this was one of those few times she got to look at him closely, she only used to see him from a distance, or that she'd be leaving when he is summoned by her father, and in all those times, he always looks down.
"Alright, you can leave now, Kenji. And take care of yourself, it is cold today", Kakashi said with a gentle smile, as Kenji thanked him and took his permission to leave.
"I think you trust him a bit too much, father", Yara said to her father, watching the black haired knight walk away under the heavy rain.
"He is trust worthy", king Kakashi said, looking at his daughter.
"How?"
"I know him since he was little, I personally supervised his training and everything he learnt until now", Kakashi replied, as he started to walk inside, of course, accompanied by Yara.
"But why? What's so special about him?!", she asked, furrowing her eyebrows slightly, is she worried? Or jealous?
"He is a good man", Kakashi replied briefly.
"Still...I guess he hides something, father", Yara said, narrowing her eyes when she heard a chuckle from her father.
"I think that too, Yara, but I'm sure he will tell us when the right time comes", he said, with that kind closed-eye smile.
"You know better than me, father...", the girl gave up, taking a seat beside her father near the fireplace in the royal hall.
Kenji was back to his small, ordinary room. He sat near the fireplace to get some heat and get himself dry.
He couldn't deny it, he was curious about that letter that weird man gave him earlier, why did he took it from him in the first place?Kenji, reached for the piece of paper and took it out of his pocket, gladly it wasn't soaked.
He opened it quickly, and started reading through the few lines that were written on it...'I have been looking for you for many years, Sasuke'
At that moment, Kenji felt as if time sropped...
Sasuke?!!!
When was the last time someone called him by that name? He barely remembers...he barely remembers when he was a little child who has been enslaved and sold to many variant merchant by the name Sasuke, until he came to this palace and they changed his name to Kenji, ever since then, Kenji was his only name.
He remembers, it was king Kakashi who named him Kenji...
The name Sasuke sounded familiar, in the same way as the man who gave him the letter...he couldn't help himself but to read the rest of the letter as soon as he can.
'There is a lot I need to tell you, that can't be written on this paper, that's why I want to see you again, in the place I'll mention in the end of this letter.
In the end, I want you to know who I am, Itachi of the Uchiha, your older brother and true prince of the kingdom of fire'Kenji's eyes didn't twitch for a while, as he kept staring blankly at the letter...reading it over and over again...
Brother? Prince?
He looked down at the location 'his brother' wrote in the end of his letter...should he go?! What if all this is a lie?! A trap?!
What if all this is a truth?!
Kenji hated himself for forgetting most of his early childhood memories, the only things he remembers are some bad memories of enslavement, then being picked by king Kakashi to train and go on battles until he became the, cold, emotionless, highly ranked knight he is today...
What should he do now?
He finally got his composure together, then crumpled the paper and threw it in the fireplace, making it burn to ashes without leaving a trace behind...
