Chapter 17

Itachi didn't want to waste any time, the next day he was preparing himself for leaving back to the land of fire.
[Name] was just sitting and watching him, she is meant to accompany him there, she misses her homeland, but she needs to be careful not to get caught, she still remembers that her father had put a replacement for her, and now she is meant to die.

"Are you done?", she asked with a grin, seeing Itachi finishing preparing his horse.

"Yes, we don't need to pack much, we will be back soon"

"When will we go?"

"Tomorrow, at dawn"

"Then, we will have to sleep early tonight"

"Yes"

The next day, at dawn, Itachi and [name] were already making their way out of the land of lightening's castle town. It was a total calm, everyone was still asleep as it was still a bit dark.

By the time the sun rose, they were already in the thick forest crossing it.

"What is it, Itachi?", [name] asked once Itachi stopped in his tracks, he remained silent as he looked around.

"I guess...we're are being watched", he said, scanning the area around them.

"I'm scared...", [name] said, moving closer to Itachi and clutching on his sleeve.

"Let's keep moving-", before he can even finish his sentence, a group of three masked men jumped at them from various hiding spots, as it looked like they have been waiting for them.

The first thing Itachi thought was that they were a bunch of bandits, but it wasn't the case.

"Kill them!!! Both of them!!!", one of the men yelled, as they all attacked the two, but Itachi quickly stuck his dagger into the stomach of one if them killing him immediately, then dodging the second one and stabbing him in the waist from behind as well get rid if him, but before he can finish the third one as well, the latter quickly pulled [name] and held her firmly placing his sword on her neck making Itachi freeze right in his place.

"We came here to assassinate princess [name], we have been following you for a while, but now...since I don't have an option...I'll trade my life for hers, now throw your knife and step back, or else...", he said, pressing his sword slightly on [name]'s neck making a little scratch on her neck.

Itachi did as the masked man said, throwing his dagger to the ground and took some steps back...he should have been more careful, these aren't just bandits but they know who [name] is! And they are not here to save her...but to get rid of her.

He watched as the man was walking backwards with [name], getting ready to escape, if he does, he will tell danzo that [name] is alive and that he met her in the land of lightning, something will make things complicated for them.

[Name] was struggling to free herself but the man was stronger, she kept telling Itachi to go and leave her and continue his way, but the tears in her eyes were begging him to save her.

He was still confused what to do, and how to free [name] without harming her or letting the masked man escape, when suddenly, this one fell to the ground lifeless, freeing [name].

[Name] quickly run to Itachi and clutched at him, while he was looking at the dead man, seeing an arrow that had penetrated his nape from behind.

'Who could it be? A friend or another enemy?'

Itachi asked himself looking around trying to figure out who shot the arrow, when he then noticed a movement in some bushes away.

A man then emerged holding his bow, wearing a familiar cape with a hood covering his head.

Itachis face lit up, seeing the man walk closer and knowing who he is, he was none other than Sasuke.

"You should be more careful", he said in a calm way as be looked at the three men laying down lifeless on the ground.

"Yes, but some conflicts can't be avoided", Itachi replied, while [name]'s grip on Itachis sleeve tightened even more.

"I guess that now you know that taking this...girl is risky", Sasuke said looking at [name] who hide behind Itachi.

"She traveled with me before for long distances but nothing happened, until this time"

"But now things are different, and I'm not risking your life for her"

"Sasuke, she doesn't have somewhere to stay in alone"

"She will come with me, and that's final. Now you go, you have no time to waste, and take this with you", he said, handing over his bow and quiver to Itachi, who thought tor a while, looking back at [name]and nodding for her to trust him.

"Alright...take care of her. I'll see you soon, [name]"
