CHAPTER 5

Napaigtad ako ng may kung anong biglang malakas na lumagapak. Napalingon ako sa hamba ng pinto kung saan si Eddie, assistant manager ko na nanliliit ang mga matang nakatingin sa akin.

"Ayos ka lang?" tanong nito. "Kanina pa kita tinatawagan sa intercom. Hindi ka sumasagot kaya pinuntahan kita dito."

Tumayo ako habang nagpakawala mg hininga. I shake my head to focus myself. My mind has been drifting off umpisa kaninang umaga na sagutan namin ni Donovan.

I forced a smile. "Ayos lang ako. May problema ba?" Inayos ko ang mga papeles na ni-re-review para sa auditing.

Inignora niya ako. "Ilang beses na akong kumatok tapos nakatulala ka lang. Siguradong ayos ka lang?"

"Ed," I sighed. "Ayos lang talaga ako. Totoo. Now, tell me what's going on?"

Tiningnan niya ang relo. "Sabi ni Sir Borbon may dadating daw na Senador in... 30 minutes,"

Of course, hindi naman ako ipapatawag sa labas kung hindi important ang guest. "Sige, susunod nalang ako. Mag-aayos muna ako. I want you to run-in in our database on what suits are available,"

Naiinsulto siya sa aking naaktitig. "Oo naman. Para namang hindi tayo anim na taong nagtrabaho na dito,"

Natawa lang ako. "Just making sure. Nagsabi ba daw na may kasama? Family? Business associates?" I stacked the papers in a folder and clipped it.

"Kabit siguro." Kibit-balikat niya. "Alam mo naman ang mga politiko dito sa Pinas, madumi na nga sa gobyerno, mas marumi pa sa buhay na kasado,"

Hindi ako umimik. It was a harsh truth. Hindi ko na mabilang ilang eskandalo ang nasaksihan ko sa trabaho dahil lang sa mga kabit at manlolokong mga lalaki. Minsan babae din. From politicians, businessman, high ranking military officers, professionals, to celebrities and models- lahat nalang nagloko.

Kahit na mulat kami sa mga nangyayari dito ay tikom pa rin ang bibig namin. Nirvana Hotel and Resort is a five star Hotel for a reason. Hindi lang mga high end amnesties and professional services at commodities and ino-offer namin.

We offer privacy, too. The service that is the most indispensable above all for those who lived and thrived in spotlight.

Dahil iyong mga kilalang tao ay kadalasan mabubuti at magaganda lang naman ang pinapakita sa publiko. The dirt and sinful deeds? They do it in the dark. Where no one will judge and condemn them.

People would be surprise how much money these riches are willing to pay just to do their sins in private. Or to do what the hell they want to do without compromising their reputation and career. O para matakpan lang ang mga mali nilang gawain.

I shrugged off my blazer and check my face in my compact mirror.

Bilang Manager ng Front Office Department, naatasan ako na ako mismo ang sasalubong at mag-aacomodate tuwing may mga VIP o mga guests kami na kilala at prominente. Except with much higher reputation such as the President because the General Manager is the one who will burden the responsibility of entertaining the President.

Bilang naka-atas sa Front Office Department, kami ang mukha at reputasyon ng Hotel. The department where I am currently managing is the one that primarily interacts with hotel guests when they arrive. We handle check-ins, reservations, room assignments, room prices, revenue management, the creation and management of a database containing guest information, and the provision of concierge services.

Inaamin kong ma-trabaho siya at nakakapagod talaga pero pag mahal mo ang trabaho mo at nasa healthy ka na work environment, hindi mo 'yun iindahin. Lucky for me I have these two advantages.
