The episode begins with the Plantar Family riding far out from Wartwood on Bessie, through the open plains of this world. Why are they travelling out, well, it's because the mountain pass is about to clear up, so they need to get prepared.
Hop Pop: Now, remember, gang. The mountain pass will clear up in one week. Meaning, it's almost time to leave this valley and find Anne and (Y/N) a way home.
Anne: Whoo! Love that!
Sprig: Excitement!
Polly: Sights!
(Y/N): Adventure!
Hop Pop: (getting excited) And you know the best way to start a quest?
Sprig: Danger?
Polly: Weapons?
Hop Pop: Research! (everyone groans, except for (Y/N), who cheers)
(Y/N): Alright! (the others look at him) Come on, we've been on enough reckless adventures, let's at least plan for this one.
Anne: Dude, going reckless is the fun part.
Sprig: Plus, research is boring.
Polly: And dumb!
Hop Pop: Oh, come on, you three. We'll never get Anne and (Y/N) home if we get bitten to death by a venomous snake fly. (a nearby snake fly hisses at them) Or eaten to death by a camouflaged sod skink. (a sod skink appears and kills the snake fly) Or crushed to death by a sand liger. (a sand liger crushes the sod skink with its paw)
Anne: Okay, okay, okay. Enough death already. Sheesh. I'm beginning to think you guys are obsessed.
(Y/N): (looks at Hop Pop) You think you could tell me more about this world's predators?
Hop Pop: (chuckles) Where we're going, they have a book for everything.
Anne: (whispers to (Y/N)) Don't you get obsessed too.
(Y/N) shrugs his shoulders at Anne, signalling that he may or may not. After a few more minutes of riding through the open plains, Bessie and the Plantars pull up to a large stone building, with the words "The Historic Wartwood Town Archives" on a sign just outside the front doors, standing proud like a medal of honour. Upon seeing the location, Sprig groans and lays on his back.
Sprig: The town archives? (grunts in annoyance) This place is dustier than Dusty's dustbin.
Polly: Who?
Sprig: (sits up) Come on. You know Dusty. Local dust merchant. Friendly, always smiling, sells dust.
Polly: Oh, yeah, yeah. Right.
(Y/N): Sounds like he doesn't get much customers.
Sprig: He doesn't, but some people still like to visit him.
Anne: (interrupts) Enough talking about a person. I get this place. (motions to the archives) It's like a library from my world. Zoobooks and manga, here I come!
(Y/N): Hope they have some comics or history books! (Anne gives him a weird look) What? I like history.
Hop Pop: Enough chatter, you four. Time to hit the books. ((Y/N) lands beside him)
Sprig: Wait! Wouldn't we be better off preparing by diving headfirst into deadly situations?
Anne: (thinks about what Sprig) Huh. Yeah. Maybe Sprig's right, Hop Pop. Research is overrated.
