As Charan spoke about the train schedule, Kanin listened attentively, grateful for the distraction from his own thoughts. The rhythmic sound of Charan's voice brought a sense of calm to the room, easing the tension that lingered in the air.

When Charan mentioned his healed wound, Kanin couldn't help but marvel at his roommate's resilience. It was a reminder of Charan's strength and determination, qualities that Kanin admired deeply.

However, beneath the surface, Kanin couldn't shake the feeling of vulnerability that lingered within him. He couldn't help but wonder how he would fare if he were the one in need of care, burdening others with his own wounds.

The thought weighed heavily on Kanin's mind as he sat beside Charan, their proximity a silent comfort in the midst of his inner turmoil. Despite the uncertainties that loomed ahead, Kanin found solace in the presence of his roommate, grateful for the unspoken support that they shared.

As the afternoon sunlight filtered through the window, casting a warm glow over the room, Kanin felt a sense of peace wash over him. In that moment, surrounded by the gentle hum of conversation and the quiet companionship of Charan, Kanin knew that he was not alone.

Together, they would navigate the challenges that lay ahead, drawing strength from each other's presence and facing whatever the future held with unwavering resolve. And as they sat side by side, watching the world pass by outside, Kanin felt a glimmer of hope stir within him, knowing that they would weather the storm together, no matter what obstacles came their way.

"The weather forecast says it won't rain tomorrow. We'll travel at night, and my influence will send us to the train station," Charan remarked, still reflecting on their past journey to Emmaly.

Kanin accepted the plan quietly, lost in his own thoughts about the uncertain future. His lips, tense with worry, softened into a reddish-brown hue. Kanin blinked, surprised to find Charan standing before him, holding an ice cream cup. Without explanation, Charan held it out to him until Kanin reluctantly reached out to take it.

"The important thing about the ice cream... is the orange flavor,"  Kanin reminded Charan.

"Hmm?" Charan responded.

"I like orange-flavored ice cream more than coffee," Kanin clarified.

"I'll remember that," Charan promised.

The conversation from a few days ago replayed in Kanin's mind. He frowned again, but this time it wasn't due to stress or being lost in thought. It was a feeling he couldn't quite identify, but it leaned towards positivity rather than negativity.

"I remember that you like orange-flavored ice cream," Charan said casually as he indulged in a pastry, savoring its sweet and sour taste.

Kanin intended to ask why Charan had bought it for him, but he was struck by Charan's calm demeanor and the thoughtful gesture. Instead, he waited for Charan to explain.

"I read in a book that when we eat sweets, it triggers the release of chemicals in the brain such as endorphins and serotonin, which help improve mood and make us feel calm," Charan explained.

Kanin, enjoying the cool sweetness of the ice cream, requested a simpler explanation.

Charan seemed to process this request like a robot, then said something that eased the sadness in Kanin's heart.

"I bought this for you so you wouldn't be stressed. Is that simple enough to understand?"

As Kanin gazed out the window at the lush green scenery and misty mountains, he reflected on Charan's caring nature, which had turned him into something akin to an older brother. He recalled their farewell, uncertain if they would ever meet again but determined to seize any opportunity that arose.
