he's trying to guard his soul from you.
you didn't like that, so you fixed it.
__________

Roxto is a sweet boy. Everyone knows that.

What people couldn't understand was that why he changed. Don't get me wrong, he still helps where and when he can without having to be asked. But he's more... guarded? Snazzy?

I think that Ao'nung's friends would bully him for being too "soft". This is why he teases the Sully's when they first arrived. He didn't want to be seen greeting them kindly. They intrigued him, but he didn't let that show.

When you ask him about it, he breaks.

"I didn't want to. But it was me or them."

"Angel, Ao'nung isn't that cruel. He's your friend. He would understand if you want to be yourself."

Seeing his hesitation on the matter, you drop it. With him at least.

The next day, Ao'nung drags him away from you quite violently.

"Dude, why didn't you tell me that the others were fucking with you?"

"It isn't a big dea-"

"Yes it is! You're my best friend, dumbass! Why didn't you tell me!? I had to hear it from your mate! She almost beat me up thinking I was the one messing with you!"

"She did what? When-"

"That's not the point!"

Ao'nung places a hand on his shoulder.

"You're my brother. I would never treat you cruelly."

"You literally pushed me of my ilu yesterday for shits and giggles."

"I would never treat you too cruelly."

He sighed, but smiled.

Damn you and your protective nature. When he confronted you about, you nodded without missing a beat.

"I did."

"Why?"

"You deserve to be yourself, Angel."

He smiled and you as you cupped his face, tail wagging behind him. He loved you so much.

"Thank you, ma yawne."

"You're welcome, ma Roxto. Now, are you going to help me cook or what? This has to be done for the children tomorrow."

He kissed your cheek, then your lips, holding you tight.

"Yes, ma'am."

He could always be himself around you.

"Isn't that too much?"

"No."

"Reall-"

"Yes."

"... are you sur-"

"Roxto!"

Great Mother, this boy.
