Once upon a time...

The waves rolled over the little girl's feet as she ran to a ball that had landed. It was always so calm out there, she could have spent forever.

But before she could pick it up, she noticed a turtle hiding, being harassed by seagulls. Pouting at her ball, she ran over and grabbed a giant leaf, holding it over the baby turtle's head. The seagulls came back, trying to peck at him.

"Shoo! Shoo!" She kicked in its direction as another one landed behind her. "Eeeee!" she screeched.

Turning back to the turtle, are noticed that he had fallen upside-down, so she picked him up and watched him crawl into the current.

Suddenly, the ocean parted and her ball lay on the ground. Excited, she ran to it, picking it up. She kept walking in, the ocean letting her. There, she watched as fish and turtles swam in the walls around her.

A giant wave rose up and stopped just above her, as if looking down. Confused, she tilted her head. The wave did the same. Racing up, are touched it, water running down her hand and to her legs. She fell, landing on her butt, her legs tingly. Giggling, she stood up again and the wave crashed over her, causing her to fall again. This time, she noticed her legs turn into a tail, transforming back as soon as the wave left.

Inside the wave, are noticed a green tail swim by.

Ah ah ah ah ah ah...

She reached out for it, but the ocean suddenly came over her again, pushing her back, her gaining a tail the whole ride.

Before she could go back in, she, hearing footsteps behind her, turned and found a little girl older than her staring at her. "What are you doing out here?"

Her ball next to her, she picked it up and held it out, offering to play.

"Are you lost? Do you..." She took a step towards the girl, who tripped back, then pointed at the sea.

"Your...your parents?" she guessed.

The h/c girl sighed. Did this girl really think she had such a typical backstory where her parents got lost at sea?

Well, she was half right, at least. The only place she had left to go was back to the orphanage.

After a minute, she quietly said, "Gee, you must have really been through something." She offered a hand, which she took, letting herself get pulled up, gripping onto her ball. The dark haired girl put her arm around her, guiding her gently away. "Don't worry. I'll help you. Come on. Come on, you'll be okay."

She let herself get pulled away to the castle, where she would be spending the rest of her life.
