"𝐔𝐏 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐆𝐄𝐓, 𝐘𝐀 𝐋𝐀𝐙𝐘 𝐁𝐔𝐌," Tonks yanked Raya's pillow out from under her and whacked her in the face with it.Raya and Kayse had returned to Grimmauld Place for the last few days of summer so they could settle in before heading to Hogwarts.
Raya groaned, reaching out blindly in hopes of swatting Tonks. She had no such luck, but Tonks whacked her with the pillow again.
"I'm up, I'm up," she yawned, sitting up in her bed.
Even though the Order was no longer a secret, there were still certain members Dumbledore trusted more than others. Those members usually lived at and operated out of Grimmauld Place — which was pretty much everyone from last summer except for the Weasleys.
"Good," Tonks grinned, satisfied with herself. "Now get dressed and eat up your breakfast. We're meeting the Weasleys at Diagon Alley in an hour. Hurry, hurry."
Raya grabbed her clothes and headed to the washroom so she could shower and get ready. She made sure not to comment on Tonks' subdued appearance for the day.
Ever since that fight with Bellatrix, something had been off with her. Maybe Bellatrix had said or done something, but Tonks' metamorphmaging wasn't quite working right. Instead of changing it to make the kids laugh, or picking out the most outrageous disguises, she kept the changes to a minimum.
After getting changed, Raya headed down to the kitchen, barely pausing when she bumped into Sirius on the stairway.
She'd told Kayse that she would have a talk with Sirius, but she wasn't sure she wanted to yet. Raya felt like she might just forgive him, and a twisted part of her liked staying mad at him — it made her feel like forgiving him meant that she was forgetting her dad.
"Hashbrowns!" Raya grinned, plopping down into a chair and eating some. "Rosie, you're the best."
Rosie the house-elf bowed slightly, going back to making some more for the others who were in the house.
Kayse sat across from Raya, half-awake and still adjusting to the new time zone.
"How are you so alive this early?" he groaned, picking at his own hashbrown.
"I've trained myself to survive on minimal sleep throughout the most random parts of day," she answered honestly. "It's essential as a demigod, and also probably the only reason I was alive after all those nightly border-patrol shifts."
"Right, your tree," Remus pointed, remembering how she mentioned it briefly in one of the letters. "It's saved now, isn't it?"
"Alive, healthy, and flourishing," Raya smiled proudly. "The Golden Fleece has expelled all of the poison, and Peleus is guarding it. The only reason we're not removing the Fleece, is because we don't know what'll happen if we do. But everything's going good so far."
Chiron had placed an ad for a guard monster, and Peleus was sent to Camp. He was a baby dragon, snake-headed with copper scales and yellow eyes. Raya had been hesitant at the start, considering her history with dragons, but she'd grown fond of the baby pretty quickly.
"That's nice to hear," Remus patted her head fondly as he walked by to place his bowl in the sink, happy that Raya was smiling again. "If you two are finished breakfast, let's get going. I'm sure the Weasley twins have loads of new inventions they want to share with you guys."
Raya and Kayse finished up their breakfast, standing up to follow Remus and Tonks out the door. As always, they tiptoed past Walburga Black — who remained asleep behind her curtain.
