《Chapter 8》

A few more weeks passed by in a blur as both Niki and Phil visited them frequently while they were on their break.

The absence of Grayson and Luke, when they wished to play as a group again earlier, caused the others to miss them deeply, but Niki merely served to comfort them by explaining that they had expressed to her that they were now content with their new parents.

They appear to feel a little better after that.

Sitting at the same table, Clay, George, Tina, and Karl were idly molding playdough. Though, Karl was sitting a bit close to Tina because he was worried for her.

He remembered some of the talks they had and one of them was how her parents badly treated her.

Now he's sadly observing her constantly. She hides all her problems behind a smile, and Karl knew that behind that smile is a world full of pain and hurt.

At least Karl's happy for now to see Tina genuinely smile with one of her closest friends beside her.

Nick suggested that Darryl and Zak to play a game of rock, paper, and scissors with him where the loser gets hit in the face with a pillow, and Darryl was clearly having poor luck.

Tommy, Toby, and Alex were yelling and pushing each other off the table that they were standing on as they were playing the floor Is lava.

Wilbur let Tommy wear his beanie regardless of the fact that he didn't understand why he wanted it.

Wilbur was relaxing while watching them from his seat. He was feeling a little tired and thought he could take a nap.

He felt his eyelids shut, but as soon as he heard the door open and saw Phil enter, they shot open.

He had assumed that he would simply drop by and hang out with them during his regular breaks, but instead, he approached Tommy, Toby, and Alex while kneeling to them, carrying a clipboard with a white folder attached to it.

Tommy's look when he told them something was all it took for him to get up and go question his younger brother.

When Tommy finally caught sight of him, he excitedly yanked his hand and said, "Will! We're getting adopted! We-"

Wilbur was startled, but Phil interrupts him.

Tommy's smile dissipated when Phil told him, as he also glanced at Alex and Toby, "Uh, no. Actually, they only wanted you, Alex, and Tubs, here. With both of them as brothers."

Tommy dropped his raccoon plush when his voice abruptly dropped to a whisper and he asked, "What..?"

Wilbur objected, "But I'm his real brother! I should be the one who'll go with Tommy!"

"Yes, I know that Will, but the decision was already made." Phil reached for Alex's, Toby's, and Tommy's hand, but Wilbur simply swatted Tommy's hand away from him.

This has now grabbed Clay, George, and Tina's attention.

Wilbur screamed, "You can't just take him away from me!" as he instantly carried Tommy away from him and clutched him tightly.

Zak halted as he was ready to strike Darryl with the pillow to stop them from seeing their argument.

"Don't make me call Niki here, Wilbur," Phil pleaded as he made a slow approach to him that only made him retreat away.

As Tina got up from her seat to have a closer look, Nick also noticed and hurried over to block her with his arm so she would be safer and prevent her from entering their space in case things got out of hand.

"Unless you take me with him, I'm never letting him go!" Wilbur cried fiercely. The only person now crucial in Wilbur's life is his younger brother, and he can't just allow any couple to take Tommy away from him.
