I had always tried to stay away from alcohol, seeing my mother slur her words and sob for hours sort of put me off of it.But for the first time I kind of understood why she liked it. My body felt light and I couldn't stop smiling.
The most simple things were funny.
"Janey, you've had two shots, how are you this drunk?" Carly laughed as we sat in the back of the taxi on the way to the party. I was already drunk.
"I don't know," I smiled, I was like a little kid watching the trees shoot past the window with my face nearly pressed up against the glass. Perhaps drinking wasn't the best idea.
The black dress I had on kept riding up my thighs so for most the ride I was wrestling with the fabric to stop it showing my whole vagina.
Carly did my makeup but kept it light which I was thankful for. I felt beautiful for once.
"where is this party?" I asked as Carly typed away on her phone.
"Underground or something, it's under this condemned warehouse. They do illegally fighting under there and I think they are celebrating the winner," Carly said it so casual I almost thought she was joking.
"You're taking me to an underground fighting ring?" I harshly whispered. She looked up from her phone and sighed.
"It's totally safe, Jane, the fight is already over," She explained to which I nodded.
"Oh great, that makes me feel a lot better," I spoke sarcastically. If I would have known we were going somewhere dangerous I would not have come. The alcohol started tasting bad and my stomach began to knot.
"We'll be fine, Janey, I'm not going to leave your side," Carly said and I smiled, I promised tonight would be a good night.
—
Carly did not keep her promise.
Miley had whisked her away from me into the crowd of sweaty people.
I was happy for her, she looked like she really liked Miley, so I sucked it up and tried to make friends.
"He fucking ate me out on his roof," A girl laughed so loud my ears hurt. This was not the place to me and I tried not to look as disgusted as I felt hearing that.
I stayed away from that group and made my way to the bathroom. At least there I would have some kind of peace and quiet. After pushing through people I made it to the bathroom which was absolutely disgusting.
I went into an unoccupied stall locking it quickly.
"There's no way i'm sitting on that," I whispered to myself as I stared at the weirdly coloured toilet. I took my phone out of the purse Carly loaned me and waited for it to turn on.
12 Missed calls
17 messages"Fuck," I groaned, just then I heard some people grunting in the stall next to me so with my phone in my hand I left the bathroom and through the sea of people and out the front of abandon building.
"Jane where are you?" My mother shouted on the other end of the phone. Nice to talk to you too mother.
"Carly and I went out with a couple of friends it's no big deal," I replied half irritated. I was fucking 19 for gods sake.
"It is a big deal, come home right now, you need to have your herb bath," I cringed at her words and shook my head.
"No mother, I've worked my ass off all week, I deserve to have a night out," I said sternly.
