Cracking the Case: Part 1

Skylor's P.O.V.:

After a few days of resting, I was ready to go back to work. Kai was right, I did need to take a break from working, but now that I'm better and back on the case, I wasn't going to stop until I solved it.

I was at Borg Tower interviewing Axel and Borg about the night of the robbery.

"Axel, are you sure your memory banks didn't pick up anything?" I asked.

"I apologize, the damage to my mother board erased my memory of the incident." Axel held his head.

"Unfortunately my security cameras were also down during the robbery." Borg said.

"Do you really think it was the same guy?" Axel asked.

"Not sure, but they both definitely have something against the Garmadon family." I said.

"Who doesn't honestly." Axel griped.

"Sorry we couldn't be of more help." Borg frowned.

"That's ok. Thank you for your time." I said.

I walked back to my squad car and looked at my phone. There was a text from Nya.

Nya: Hey Skylor. Jay
and I were hoping you
could do us a favor.

Skylor: Hey Nya. Sorry
I was working. What's
up?

N: That's ok. We were just
wondering if you could run
a background check for us.

S: On who?

N: His name is Robert
Jetson, he's Olivia's
birth father. Her bio
mom said he was a
bad guy and he used
to work for Onyx.

S: Really? Kai just
started a job there.

N: Why would he
do that after what
happened?

S: He said that we needed
the money and that he
could help us out with
the case. I didn't want
him to but he insisted.

N: Of course he did. 🙄

S: Anyways, thanks for
the tip. I'll look into it
and get back to you.

N: Thanks. We just want
to make sure that he's not
up to anything suspicious.

S: I'll do my best.

I put my phone away and drove back to the station. I ran to my office and started the background check. I typed in his name and there it was. Brown eyes, brown hair, and he had the Onyx tattoo on his left ankle. It matched exactly with the description Kira gave me, but that wasn't enough to accuse him of the crime just yet. I needed a little more evidence.

I looked into his criminal record and he had been arrested twice. First time for a DUI and the second time for public intoxication. Sure he sounds like a jerk, but the problem was these crimes happened over five years ago and they were nothing like the crime at the gas station. I was definitely getting closer but I wasn't quite there yet.

I usually call Kira to check the medical records for the people I background check, but she was out of commission at the moment. So instead I called the hospital.
