Kira's P.O.V.:

Kai came to pick me up from the courthouse. It was unusually fast and he was driving a car that I didn't recognize. I thought it was really strange.

"Kira, get in." Kai said with his window rolled down.

"Kai? You're here already? But Skylor just called you." I questioned.

"Yeah, I was on standby just in case anything went wrong." Kai said. "She thought it was a good idea to get a rental car too so Jett can't track us."

"Oh, alright." I said.

"Leave your phone here too, that way Jett won't hack into the signals and find you."

"Hang on, just let me turn my phone off and everything." I said.

I felt like that was a strange request, so I quickly grabbed a note pad and pen off the desk and wrote down the color, make, model, and license plate number of the car he was driving. I folded the note and hid it in my phone case and then I went out to meet Kai.

I got in the front seat and he started driving. The strange thing was that after a while, he started driving in the other direction. I've lived in that treehouse my whole life and not once did we have to go this way to get there. Something was very off.

"I don't think we're heading the right way." I said.

"Trust me, I'm going to take you somewhere where no one will find you." He said.

"Why does that not sound comforting." I said to myself.

He kept driving until we entered the birchwood forest. I had no idea where he was taking me, but I know for a fact that with Skylor's promotion on the line, Kai would never have disobeyed Skylor's instructions. Something was definitely wrong, and I knew I had to be careful until I could come back with Lloyd and Skylor. The only bright side was I know the kids were safe on that island and weren't anywhere near this nightmare.

Lloyd's P.O.V.:

Skylor was driving so fast back to the courthouse. I was frantically calling Kira's phone trying to get in touch with her, but she wasn't answering. I even tried the emergency tracking device on her phone, but that just led me back to the courthouse, meaning she left it there.

"Anything Lloyd?" Skylor asked.

"No, she won't pick up." I frowned. "I think she left her phone at the courthouse."

"I was afraid of that." Skylor sighed. "Usually a kidnapper will trick victims into leaving their phones behind so they can't be tracked."

"Oh man, that means we're right. Jett has Kira, and it's all my fault." I frowned.

"We can play the blame game later, right now we need to focus." Skylor said as we arrived. "Now remember, as of right now you're still in my custody, so behave yourself alright?"

"That guy has my wife and last time he almost killed her!" I yelled. "He's after my kids too, I can't lose anyone else to him, I just can't."

"And I will do everything I can, but you also have to remember what they teach us at the academy. Staying calm is key in any situation, it always leads to a better outcome."

"Yeah, you're right." I took a deep breath. "I promise I'll behave myself, let's just get my wife back."

Skylor nodded and we got out of the car. She grabbed two vests out of the trunk and put one on. She handed the other one to me.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"It's a bullet proof vest, just a precaution." She explained.

I nodded and put it on. We entered the courthouse and met up with Kai.
