HER BLACK EYES WIDENED IN SHOCK as she took in his request. The mention of the notorious group sent a shiver down her spine. Tale after tale, Suki knew the stories about the ruthless killings the Akatsuki carried beside them. The rogue shinobis of the Akatsuki were something not to take lightly, and to be asked to infiltrate their organization was a death wish.

If she still had any respect for Danzō, it would ultimately be lost right there. She was about to laugh from hysteria; Danzō was pushing her to her breaking point. But to be exact, no one requests for a young kunoichi to invade the ranks of the Akatsuki on a random night. As Suki rubbed her lips together in contemplation, she began to speak.

"The Akatsuki? That's quite a formidable task, sir. May I ask why exactly you wish for me to undertake this mission? What exactly is this benefiting our village?"

Suki expected a simple mission composed of her being gone for a few weeks to help ensure protection for the older man. This, however, was far different from a normal mission. The girl did not even ease into the situation, it was all so fast.

Danzō regarded her question with a penetrating gaze, his expression unreadable. "Out of all the shinobis ... the kunoichis I have worked with, you, Suki, are one of our village's best. You carry the blood of one of the best ninjas the world has ever seen. With the rise of Akatsuki, they pose a threat to all of us, and we need someone like a Senju who can unravel them from the inside, and report back to us."

Oh great. Because one is lucky enough to have Senju blood in her veins, that means one became the most formidable one to succeed in a death mission.

Suki remained calm and composed as she responded to his request, "And what are the exact issues you're seeing?" Her voice was laced with interest.

"At this time we only know so much." Danzō admitted with caution in his voice, "But you know what has happened in the last few years, correct?"

Suki proceeded with a hesitant nod, she had no idea what situation he exactly meant; she did have her ideas though. In the last decade, Konoha has experienced a lot of change in political power, war, and attacks on the village. There were many potential events that Danzō could be alluding to.

Her tired mind tried to think of all the past scenarios that had a history in the village, and her mind couldn't help but linger back to the Uchiha massacre that only occurred a couple of years ago. It being a dark and painful chapter in the village's history made a lot of sense to Suki and explained why Danzō had a certain interest in it.

Her tall legs brought her to a halt within the dark tunnel, turning her body to the older man, her curiosity piqued. As she was about to speak, she could notice how the sly man had a face full of reactions. She felt disgusted as she saw his knowing grin let out a small amusement of laughter.

Her hesitant nod turned into full confirmation, "I believe I get it now. You're referring to ..."

The two both say in unison, yet in two different tones, "The Uchiha massacre." Suki let out a heavy blink as she thought more about the past. As his chuckle reached the air, she felt the tension grow even heavier.

The Uchiha massacre was no secret in the village. In the last few years, the complete extinction of a clan became hot news around the ninja world. And despite it being years ago, whispers around the town could be heard as the incident was constantly discussed. Everyone knew about the hushed conversations that echoed throughout the street. The village had many things to say about the incident, but no one would dare to publicly speak about it.

The truth behind the Uchiha massacre has been shrouded in secrecy for years, known only to a select few. And with rumor after rumor, it was always speculated that the tragic event was composed by Konoha's elders; hence why no one would discuss it so openly. Most had a deep fear that if they talked badly about the council that something just as similar to the incident, could happen to them.
