"WHERE'S THE WINDOW?" CHARLIE QUESTIONED in horror as she stopped on the top step of the cabin's porch, seeing the window panes blown out, glass shards scattered as far as the trees. It wasn't just the window either, even from the outside, the cabin looked as if a very isolated hurricane had hit it.

Hopper raised his head from his hands as he leant against the railing of the porch, his hair standing up on end like he'd been present for the natural disaster that had ruined their home. He tipped his beer down his throat, an exhausted look on his face. "Take a guess."

Charlie sighed, pulling her backpack further up her shoulder as she wandered over to his side, leaning beside him. "What were you arguing about?"

"She left the cabin," Hopper cleared his throat, his voice sounding sore. Charlie couldn't only guess it was from shouting. "Went up to the school. A mother and her kid... They saw her. They called the cops, of course. So I... I took the TV as punishment, and she, well... well-" He gestured back half-heartedly at the broken cabin. "Well."

"Right," Charlie swallowed, nodding her head. "I think you tried to do the right thing, Hops. I do, but..." He looked at her as if he knew the 'but' was coming. "You gotta know how she feels as well. I mean, everybody she protected last year thinks she's dead. She can't even live a real life anymore because of how she grew up. This is hard for her too. And, she didn't handle it well, but... she handled it the only way she knew."
